Interesting thread from the archives

I apologize to the people I offended with a previous thread--- was more than a little stunned that anyone took it for a slam on anyone's belief system, instead of the intent. I am still sorry to have a strict conservative as the head of a large religious organization. If anyone feels the need in this thread to comment on "my real intent," I probably won't respond; I have adressed it more than three times already.

But, I remember some really ugly comments from eight years ago.... one with the word "fuck" in the title... so, I went to look at the archives--

This is Skinner's thread "What do we know about...."

I thought the change in tone for some people over the past eight years was interesting; also worth noting the ebb and flow of DUers come and gone (normal for a website):

I was raised Catholic and one of my biggest beefs with the Church is how far to the right they have gone. I was taught by fairly liberal nuns and we were told our faith is personal. Do not preach but enlighten when asked.

That does not mean the history of the Church does not have the bad - that will never change. What changed for me is the downright arrogance of many of today's members - including my own family. The constant victimhood when the media exposes the child abuse scandals, or the Italian banks shutting down the Vatican stores etc.. HOW DARE the media report anything negative!! when the reaction should be HOW DARE the hierarchy be so corrupt.

The reaction to your earlier thread show the denial of the followers. They can't separate the failures of the leadership from the teachings.

NO ONE has the right to question or judge the faith someone chooses to follow - or not for that matter. That does not mean the wrongdoings of that organization cannot be criticized. Today's Catholics seem to be so entrenched in being victims they direct their outrage in the wrong direction.

now it's a collection of outrage trolls and the terminally offended.

it's funny, because that type of trolling is a stated OBJECTIVE on the darksider conservative nutjob stalker sites.

I've around a long time..come and go - and don't post much, but I am aware of the changes over time here.

I simply cannot believe how many people have to be outraged at absolutely everything. Get a touch skin kids and buck up.
