Any state to produce such strong intelligent and funny women can't be all bad.

Of course, being from NJ I might be over sensitive to state wide stereotypes.

and had a similar reaction.

On the other hand, my teenage son wanted to get a shirt that read "I'm from NJ. Yeah - we don't like you either." on it. I vetoed it. I know we have a reputation for being a bit rough around the edges or even rude at times, but I see no need to feed that steriotype.

But enough about Chris Christie.

we'd want to say fucking up children's lives is acceptable for either one, SSM/NSSM, just that the baseline should be something like "people seeking life, liberty, and happiness" with one another should not be un-necessarily handicapped by the collective and certainly NSSM has no corner on producing life, liberty, and happiness. I HOPE SSM will do better, but it's not just to punish them for failing along the same parameters that NSSM has.

Interesting that George Will and Keith Olbermann--can we find 2 any more opposite people??--are both baseball nuts.

Getting beyond the fact that it's an idiotic position (meaning the anti-equality lobby position) based on bronze age texts and mores, why doesn't the science matter in other issues like global climate change?

As usual, science only matters if it 'supports' their position, which in this case I'm pretty sure it doesn't. So then they fall back on the "There is no (or, of course, insufficient) scientific data" argument, which is generally false, in that there usually is but they don't accept it. It's pretty easy to declare the science 'insufficient' when you don't like the outcome.

The answer to his posit is of course, Do you have scientific proof that the ban on same sex marriage has any affect on society at all?

The ony real objection to equality is a religious one, not a secular or scientific one, which means it has no place in our constitution or legislation at any level of government.

He's has good reasons to be concerned about consequences.

http://fair.org/extra-online-articles/the-hypocrisy-of-george-will/

From the scorn with which he attacks the "vulgarian" Clintons and their "pantomime of domesticity," one might assume that Will's personal life has been entirely dignified and free from scandal. One might be surprised to read, in other words, that in the 1980s, while still married to his first wife, Will was romantically linked to Lally Weymouth, daughter of Washington Post owner Katharine Graham, according to Washingtonian magazine (1/87). When Will moved out on his wife and children, he found his office furniture dumped on his front lawn with a note reading, "Take it somewhere else, buster" (Salon, 2/12/98). Though the lamentable lack of shame in U.S. society is a common theme in Will's writing, shame, like other principles he touts, seems to be for other people.
