I am doing an IaMA on Reddit about my heart condition, if anyone is interested.

I was feeling a bit down this weekend, needed something to break up the boredom.

As a bit of a back story, I went into the ER with what I was thinking was pneumonia. Turns out that it was advanced congestive heart failure. When I left the ER, the doctors told my family that I had about 2 months to live.

That was almost 9 years ago.

I'm fairly clueless at the moment, but I'm going to your post right now.

I'm just trying to put all my thoughts down. It does feel really good to just release it all because there is so much that I feel that I can't comfortably tell my family and friends face-to-face.

I honestly love online interactions, when there is some level of familiarity with the person. Like you said, sometimes we don't want to burden our loved ones in any way but it helps to talk to other human beings...often NOT face to face.

I hear you.

Thanks for sharing this. As it does you well to write it down it will help others.

I read what you wrote at Reddit. What a story. What a hard blow that must have been toddwv.

Keep it up, you have beat the odds by a long long shot. I really appreciate your sharing it. So many people could help others this way and don't for one reason or another.

I do feel like I have done extremely well all things considered BUT I would like to emphasize the important role that my family and friends have played.

You are lucky but you are also smart. It seems you have learned slowly how to deal and my guess is there is a lot more time for you because of it. Keep it up, rely on your family and friends when you are down, write it all out and keep on keeping on. I admire you for this. That was a huge blow and one you were not willing to just sit back and accept.
