Idaho lawmakers: No premarital sex should be shown or implied on TV

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A number of Idaho lawmakers are targeting a topic they say should be taboo on television - premarital sex.

And they're taking a symbolic stand.

Lawmakers are against references to premarital sex in dramas, comedies, reality and talk shows as well as advertisements.

"We need to take a stand and stand up for for the morality of what is best for the citizens of Idaho," said Rep. Darrell Bolz, (R-Caldwell).

The measure that easily passed the house state affairs committee would urge the federal government and the FCC to prohibit the portrayal, even implied, or even the discussion of premarital sex on TV between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Also, too, and...this means we'll have to stop watching the news. Especially news about GOP congress critters. Damned hypocrites.

Is it something in that mountain water? Yes, there are a lot of Mormons there, but not as many as in Utah.

didn't the show imply that Andy was divorced from his wife, and was rasing Opie, or did she pass away? Not really sure about the particulars of the Andy Griffth show but when I watched it I was always under the impression that Andy was a divorced single father, and Divorce doesn't settle well with many religions

in the first show Barney Fife shot her, that is why Andy would never let her have a bullet. Well, no that isn't true. He was a widower but I don't think they ever discussed how she died.

For both boys and girls?

To refuse to show premarital sex would be to only have things on television that were completely different than real life. And, unless same-sex marriage becomes legal in Idaho, completely ignores the existence of same-sex relationships. Which they probably like the idea of too, I suppose.

There are more Mormons in this stupid fucking state than in Utah. The legislature is filled with ignorant ultra-conservative "Elders" from the Church. It's no surprise they are trying to legislate their way back to 1830.
