"We will hear from the Democrat Party on the plight of the very poor. That is not my focus."

Romney. And yes, he did make a point of saying "The Democrat Party."

MSNBC just showed the clip. He's not worried about the very poor because there are programs in place for them. His focus is the middle class.

does not make them Christians. Going to the big mega-church doesn't make them Christians. Only living to Christ's teachings would do that, but then they would need to change their political affiliation.

He does realize that poor people vote, right? I know Republicans are trying to make it more difficult for them to but still.....................
Republicans have never been friends of the poor, of course, but none of them would just come right out and say something so classless and clueless.

He's a real firecracker today/last night, isn't he? My biggest worry about Romney has always been that he would have an easier time fooling indies and moderates into believing that he could be a moderate Republican POTUS and/or "compassionate conservative" like GWB but it seems like the more and more confident he gets that he's going to be the nominee, stuff like this just comes pouring out of his mouth. Maybe it won't be as hard for Obama to contrast with Romney as I had feared, particularly if the election is ultimately framed as the 1% vs. 99%. There's no way that Romney will be able to pivot back enough to win THAT argument IMHO.

'Nigger', 'Kike', or 'Spic'.

I've thought this ever since I first started hearing it, by the way. They use "'Democrat' Party" as a fig leaf for their racism.

a politician says something like this, he gets a vote from some oppressed worker bee who is convinced his life could only be improved if everyone poorer than him is starved to death. It' the "liberals" who are taking food and money from his kids and giving it to the undeserving. And there are a lot of them-- probably more than there are of us.

That attitude may be a world of suck, but it exists and it affects the election and the direction our country goes.

The poor equates to the despicable minorities - notably blacks or latinos, most especially blacks. And middle class equates to whites. So the so-called Christians are are very comfortable with it.

In reality, he doesn't care any more about the middle class than he does about the poor. He's really only concerned about the 1%.

He's a disgusting slug of a man.
