Romney vs. Jesus

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’" -- Matthew 25:40 (NIV)

"You can focus on the very poor, that's not my focus" -- Mitt Romney

keep talking, asshole.

"We have a very ample safety net, and we can talk about whether it needs to be strengthened or whether there are holes in it. But we have food stamps, we have Medicaid, we have housing vouchers, we have programs to help the poor," Romney said"

"the poor" like they are a subset of Americans. I am beginning to despise him more than GWB, and I didn't think that would be possible. American-lite, American* with an asteric The more he talks the more he reveals.

If Willard thinks that the poor-people box has been checked and that we can just move on (maybe after making a few tweaks) -- well, that's the kind of thing a guy might say if he looks at the world from a bubble of privilege.

I agree with Willard when he says the middle class needs some attention, too. But nothing he has proposed suggests he has a clue with regard to their needs, either. President Obama proposed a plan that would make it easier for people to refinance their houses at lower rates. What's Romney's position on that? His party's Congressional leadership is obstructing that. If Willard really cares about me, he can show it by calling on Congress to pass that proposal.
