Repugs, WWII did not get us out of the Depression

ok? A war can't get a nation out of a depression. A war CONSUMES and WASTES resources.

It was GOVERNMENT MANDATED production that got us out of the Depression. It would have worked with or without a war and better without one.

Thank you.

and it put us into debt for 120% of GDP. War is the only government spending and debt that right wingers love and embrace.

War may comsume and waste resources, but when you're building - for example - 2,500 liberty ships at one per week and employing 700,000 workers to do so, that's going to improve your economy. Not to mention planes, tanks, munitions, etc etc at the same pace.

For the munitions suppliers thousands of miles away from the front lines, (like the U.S. was in '40 & '41), it's jackpot time.

Imagine how much better it would have been had the same amount of borrowed money been used instead to build roads, schools, parks, bridges and hospitals.

And when the war ended we went into a recession. Millions of males were taken out of the labor force for the military and millions of females went into the labor force. None of that would have happened without a war.
