A third man tackled the shooter after being shot in the arm. Bar customers restrained the suspect until police arrived on the scene. In video broadcast by KDKA, the man appeared to be wearing only underwear and had a bloody bandage on his head, presumably the result of a beating at the hands of bar patrons.

WPXI reported that the dead man had been killed with the M4 assault rifle, while other reports suggested that police found the rifle in the suspect’s vehicle after the shooting.

2. Man began shooting after heated text-message exchange w/ girl-friend.

Investigators believe Mr. Mazzocco was inside the bar having relationship problems via text when he left the bar upset by the conversation. He returned with three handguns, ordering two friends in the bar to get out. They protested, and Mr. Mazzocco pointed at gun at one of them before they left, Lt. Schurman said.

None of the handguns was registered to Mr. Mazzocco, who county police said was barred from owning guns.

Police also found a fourth gun -- a loaded AR-15 assault-style rifle -- inside Mr. Mazzocco's truck in the parking lot, Lt. Schurman said. County police are investigating the registered owners of the handguns and how Mr. Mazzocco acquired them.
