An act of kindness on the mat allows two wrestlers to shine

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Sports can bring out the worst in people at times but it can also bring out the best and provide some of the most uplifting stories possible.

Like when a perennial powerhouse on the mat, gives his gold medal to someone who may not have his talent -- but equal in drive, sportsmanship and perseverance.

When Erica Hewitt's son Cody showed her his gold medal from a Jamestown wrestling tournament, she was a little surprised.

After all, Cody finished fourth.

Cody: "What made me want to join the team was when I first watched professional wrestling for the first time."

....

Erica: "Some of the issues with my son and his disability, having other kids and his peers actually recognize him and be really kind to him is great, being that we have dealt with bullying in the past."

It's the third time Aberdeen Senior Colton Fryer won the tournament. He says he wanted to recognize Cody's perseverance.
