A lab technician who says he warned his supervisor at Framingham’s New England Compounding Center that drugs manufactured there could hurt patients will tell his story tonight on 60 Minutes, according to CBS.
The broadcast will air at 7 p.m., as the network’s Scott Pelley unveils his report of an investigation into the compounding pharmacy and interviews a company insider who says NECC concealed its operations from state inspectors.
CBS said the NECC’s President Barry Cadden declined an interview for the story.
The pharmacy, which is now under criminal investigation, allegedly manufactured thousands of vials of steroid pain medication tainted with fungal meningitis. The drugs were linked to 48 deaths and sickened hundreds across the country since fall 2012.
NECC shut down in October and its sister company, Westborough-based Ameridose, laid off hundreds amid an investigation into its facility and was shut down in November.

They can put an insane amount of narcotic in almost no liquid so people can take meds without IVs at home. They even put some comfort meds into topical gels.

But, I'm for more regulation since there are safety issues.

Barry Cadden cashed in his stock and withdrew money from the company, as the first reports of deaths started coming in.
