This is some serious crazy:
Pamela Geller: CPAC is enforcing the Shariah
By Jillian Rayfield
Anti-Islam bloggers blame Grover Norquist for their CPAC snubs
<...>
Add CPAC vs. Islamophobes to the growing list of internal conservative squabbles.
What are they doing at CPAC? Essentially, they are enforcing the Shariah, said anti-Islam blogger Pamela Geller. Under the Shariah, the blasphemy laws, you cannot say, you cannot offend, you cannot criticize and you cannot insult Islam. That is effectively what theyre doing, they are enforcing the Shariah.
Right Wing Watch reports that Geller was speaking on The Janet Mefferd Show about her recent snub from this years Conservative Political Action Conference, at which she usually holds an unofficial panel. This year I could not get an event, I was banned, she said, though also noted that in the past, I wasnt warmly welcomed because of the influence of what can only be described as Muslim Brotherhood facilitators or operatives like [ex-Bush staffer and Muslim] Suhail Khan and [anti-tax conservative ] Grover Norquist.

(53,794 posts)She's also alleged to be associated with people who funded the anti-muslim video that sparked all the riots in the Middle East last fall seriously out there on the right fringe. I still don't get why there was no investigation into how that video was funded. McCain and Graham never mentioned that in all their Susan Rice grandstanding. Makes you think it was all part of the right's campaign to damage the President before the election (October Surprise in September, anyone?).

They have totally brainwashed the sheeple into thinking that any rational thought, logical thinking or objectivity is socialism, communism, liberalism and therefore unAmerican. The gop have somehow transformed the political party into some sort of quasi-religion. and that is why it is so frustrating talking to people who now truly believe they belong to the Party of God. The gop has turned into a cult.

ADL has branded her orgs as hate groups, so likely not the Zionist community.
Could the money be coming via Robert Spencer through the Greek Orthodox community, as a means of inciting the Cyprus issue?
I'm just not seeing clear connections, and Islamophobia is just not enough of a money spinner.

(950 posts)This is from a report on Al Jazeera about the funding of Islamophobic groups in the US. It comes from a report called, "Fear, Inc."
A small group of foundations and wealthy donors are the lifeblood of the Islamophobia network in America, providing critical funding to a clutch of right-wing think tanks that peddle hate and fear of Muslims and Islam-in the form of books, reports, websites, blogs, and carefully crafted talking points that anti-Islam grassroots organizations and some right-wing religious groups use as propaganda for their constituency.
Some of these foundations and wealthy donors also provide direct funding to anti-Islam grassroots groups. According to our extensive analysis, here are the top seven contributors to promoting Islamophobia in our country:
Donors Capital Fund
Richard Mellon Scaife foundations
Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation
Newton D. & Rochelle F. Becker foundations and charitable trust
Russell Berrie Foundation
Anchorage Charitable Fund and William Rosenwald Family Fund
Fairbrook Foundation

(10,000 posts)A confluence of factors has fueled the anti-Shariah movement, most notably the controversy over the proposed Islamic center near ground zero in New York, concerns about homegrown terrorism and the rise of the Tea Party. But the campaigns air of grass-roots spontaneity, which has been carefully promoted by advocates, shrouds its more deliberate origins.
In fact, it is the product of an orchestrated drive that began five years ago in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, in the office of a little-known lawyer, David Yerushalmi, a 56-year-old Hasidic Jew with a history of controversial statements about race, immigration and Islam. Despite his lack of formal training in Islamic law, Mr. Yerushalmi has come to exercise a striking influence over American public discourse about Shariah.
Working with a cadre of conservative public-policy institutes and former military and intelligence officials, Mr. Yerushalmi has written privately financed reports, filed lawsuits against the government and drafted the model legislation that recently swept through the country all with the effect of casting Shariah as one of the greatest threats to American freedom since the cold war.
The message has caught on. Among those now echoing Mr. Yerushalmis views are prominent Washington figures like R. James Woolsey, a former director of the C.I.A., and the Republican presidential candidates Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachmann, who this month signed a pledge to reject Islamic law, likening it to totalitarian control.

(10,745 posts)If Miss Geller really thinks she's doing the world a favor, she is terribly and sorely wrong.....not only is she doing this out of a hatred for Muslims(most of whom are NOT like the Brotherhood.), but her actions are also hurting the efforts of those who are genuinely investigating the actual misdeeds(and not imaginary fairy tales such as what Ms. Geller has cooked up!) of the MB.

(11,344 posts)In October 2010, Geller told The New York Times she was profoundly affected by the 9/11 attacks. After contributing essays to various websites that examined Muslim militancy, including Charles Johnson's Little Green Footballs, she launched her own website. She named her website "Atlas Shrugs" in honor of right-wing hero and self-described objectivist author Ayn Rand, a Geller idol whose 1957 novel Atlas Shrugged celebrates pure capitalism unrestrained by government regulation or social welfare measures. The unvarnished anti-Muslim stridency of Atlas Shrugs won followers; Geller republished the 2005 cartoons of Muhammad from the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, for example, when most other media demurred.
Johnson, a moderate conservative, later broke sharply with Geller, calling her an anti-Muslim "hatemonger." After Geller, who is Jewish, posted a critique of the Islamic halal practice of slaughtering animals for food in September 2010, Johnson pointed out that kosher practice is almost identical and observed, "My GOD she is stupid."
Geller began her evolution from blogger to public activist in 2007 when she joined Stop the Madrassa, a project of a group of intense anti-Muslim activists determined to block the opening of a secular public Arabic-English school, the Khalil Gibran International Academy, in Brooklyn, N.Y. The campaign was intended as an early stand in a planned nationwide movement to counteract the efforts of American Muslims to meld into American society, according to one of its leaders, prolific anti-radical Muslim polemicist Daniel Pipes. Though the school ultimately opened anyway, Stop the Madrassa's efforts to cast the school's widely admired founding principal, Dhabah "Debbie" Almontaser, as a radical extremist succeeded in pressuring her to resign.
. . .
Geller uses her website to publish her most revolting insults of Muslims: She posted (and later removed) a video implying that Muslims practiced bestiality with goats and a cartoon depicting the Muslim prophet Mohammad with a pig's face (observant Muslims do not eat pork). Geller also has denied the genocide of Bosnian Muslims by Serbian forces in Srebrenica calling it the "Srebrenica Genocide Myth," even though the Serbian government itself issued a state apology for the massacre. She wrote, "Westerners are admitting to their role in something that didn't happen, and digging their own graves."

(8,965 posts)Regardless of the specific religious label affixed to it. The non-separation of church and state invariably brings oppressive and unjust laws into the societies that are afflicted by them. Geller still doesn't "get" that part, but suffice to say that her own brand of oppression parallels much of what she rails against. On the positive side, this absurd little schism helps to expose the whacko right for what it really is.

(22,000 posts)That's exactly what these loons are doing when they start talking about Muslims and Shariah Law. The truth is they don't know shit about either. What I wish is someone would corner that loon with a video camera and start asking her questions about Shariah Law to show how fucking stupid and ignorant she is, and then post it on YouTube.
The international law class I had to take recently for my doctoral degree covered several different legal systems and one of them was Sharia Law. I actually found it to be the most interesting of all of them.
