‘You’re My Best Friend,’ Says Obama To Drone That Appears Outside Bedroom Window Every Night

WASHINGTON—White House sources confirmed that after hearing a gentle tap on his window Thursday evening, President Barack Obama stepped out onto the Truman balcony to meet with the predator drone that appears outside his bedroom every night at 9 p.m. “Ah, there you are, old friend; almost thought you weren’t coming tonight,” the President reportedly said to the unmanned aerial vehicle before affectionately patting its antenna dome, telling the drone that it was “truly good” to see it, and asking about who it killed that day. “You’re the only one that gets me, the only one I trust. It’s just you and me from here on out, old pal. You’re my best friend in the whole world.” After leaning in, sharing a private joke with the remotely controlled vehicle, and laughing heartily, sources confirmed that the president said “Go get ’em!” and quietly watched the drone fly off into the night sky.

I don't get it. I don't think the President is one who takes killings lightly. Didn't we all just see the President's feelings right after the Sandy shooting. Tears came to his eyes, and here we have this satire cartoon where Obama is asking this drone about who it killed that day? Satire doesn't fit reality.

I see you recommended your own thread.

Signature strikes and double taps are not really compatible with serious thought.

He's the Command-In-Chief. I truly doubt he's blowing away people without having some 'serious thought' about it.

'Take things a little more seriously'. Yeah, he behaves exactly like a spoiled child, doesn't he?

How about a double tap? I'm sure glad he's seriously considering NOT knowing who is getting killed and seriously considering killing those who come to help after the first go-round. Sheesh.

...simplest way to point out how incredibly misused drones are. Both of those are 100% the exact same methods terrorist groups use and at least the "Double Tap" is a classic terrorist tool.

Very fucked up.

His attitude toward those on the receiving end of a drone strike could use some more reflection.

On the subject of drones I think we can separate them from the Sandy Hook shooting. I don't for a second think he lost any sleep on Anwar Al-Awlaki.

That representative drone does kill children in other countries. Too many here only see the deaths of Americans as bad. Right or wrong, doesn't seem to matter, only WE count. Deaths of human beings we kill on purpose or accidentally, in other countries, doesn't seem to count for much to them.

We had better figure out a better course of action before some country figures out a workable blow-back plan and we suddenly find ourselves on the defensive end of the war on terror we actually started. And our children are blown up in their schools. Our wedding parties on blown up. Our street fairs are bombed. Our neighborhoods are blown up to kill what they consider to be a dangerous terrorist. Our leaders are taken out by their version of seal teams.

We shouldn't we torture? Is it b/c it's the moral thing to do? Nope. We want to protect our own soldiers from that treatment. When we lose the moral high ground, we can't be surprised when the chickens come home to roost. We will reap what we sow. Bank on it.

without some serious thought about it.

Or like the story tries to say. Obama is waiting on his friend - the drone.

“Ah, there you are, old friend; almost thought you weren’t coming tonight,” the President reportedly said to the unmanned aerial vehicle before affectionately patting its antenna dome,
