he people have spoken. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, one of the five cohorts of ABC's daytime talk show The View, will not be returning to the couch next season, following hot on the footsteps of fellow cohost Joy Behar, a source tells Us Weekly.
According to the source, the show's resident conservative voice is being ousted after market research revealed that she isn't popular with TV audiences.

"The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing," the insider tells Us. "People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed."

(15,438 posts)and can hold an interesting and cogent conversation. I don't have a problem with that. But when a Con is mean and condescending AND stupid, well, that's a huge turn-off. For example, I don't mind S.E. Cupp on "The Cycle". In fact, she brings in a perspective I might not have thought about since I don't think like a Con. Hasselbeck, or whatever her name is, proved there is such a thing as a "dumb blonde".

(15,438 posts)And just for clarification's sake, I've claimed that it's okay to be mean and condescending, but I didn't mean to say it's preferable. I know it's an acquired taste; to have to listen to people who discuss things with a mean and condescending attitude and tone, but usually among the dreck, one can find a nugget of food for thought here and there. It's never a bad thing to try and find out what the opposition is thinking and how they come to that conclusion. It can be quite interesting, even.

They'd have to change a lot more than Elisabeth. I can't say any of them really resonated with me. I liked the idea of the show, more than the show.
Oh, well. Another filthy rich individual just found some extra time on her hands. I guess the others (also lacking for nothing financially speaking) will have to find another pet conservative to fill the void. I can't say I'd shed a tear of any of them decided to exit. But, I'm not a follower of the show.
I would prefer a show that found 4 or 5 average people from around the US or the World and ask them their opinion on current events, honestly. Truly. Just grab a random group of 4 or 5, give them the power of the television screen. Pay them handsomely for that day. And, then send them on their way. I wouldn't want a moderator, either.
That's the point of view I'm interested in.

(11,304 posts)morning. When they leave I'll go back to the View. It depends who is on if I watch the whole programming. I usually like the watch the first set when they are doing their chatting. Although I am not crazy fan of Lizzy I think she should stay of the show. We have to hear from both sides. But then again they may end up with a different person on the right that will sit on the panel. I just hope it will be a woman who is a little bit older that has experience under her belt.

(135,425 posts)It's her idea, her intellectual property, and she has full creative control when it comes to the program.
The Behar-Hasselbeck fights were always great for ratings...but since Joy is leaving, having that wingnut scold around might not be so much fun.
I really think they need a spanish speaker on that panel...someone from PR or a first or second generation American with family ties to Mexico or Central America...it's not a very wide scope, this "View"--everyone's over fifty except for the wingnut and the not-smart comedian who thinks the world is flat because the bible told her so. And those two "young" reps are a disgrace to their generation, both of 'em. Hell, bring back Lisa Ling!
Something might have happened that was the final cut for Hasselbeck, if the rumors that she was fired are in fact true. It might have even happened off camera. Maybe it happened while Barbara Walters was recovering from that head clunk at the Embassy, the night she caught chicken pox from Frank Langella's shingles (Langella, as an aside, is a former paramour of Whoopie Goldberg--they had a thing for a long while...!).
Someone will tell, eventually...

(135,425 posts)http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/08/elisabeth-hasselbeck-leaving-the-view_n_2838942.html
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being fired from "The View," according to Us Weekly.
Quoting anonymous sources, the magazine reported Friday that the conservative co-host is following Joy Behar out the door after market researchers found that her political views were clashing with the audience. That report followed a Deadline piece which said that her future on the ABC show was "unclear."
Following Us Weekly's report, TV Newser posted a similar story. The site's Alex Weprin cited two sources who said Hasselbeck was leaving. A spokesman for the show told Weprin that Hasselbeck has a "long-term contract."
If Hasselbeck's conservatism is a problem with audiences, it would appear to be a relatively new one...Hasselbeck's departure would mean that "The View" is suddenly without two of its longest-running hosts. The show has had the same cast since 2007, when it brought in Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd to replace Rosie O'Donnell and Star Jones. Hasselbeck's exit would also leave the show without one of its main sources of conflict; her political arguments with Goldberg and Behar have long been a key feature.

Elizabeth kept going on how Barbara should read her kids' picture-book bible because it made the stories so easy to understand and follow. That could have been the last straw.
Barbara is becoming increasingly senile and slow, constantly having trouble keeping up with the conversations. Lots of talk of her being too old and should retire after her illness. To have Elizabeth insult her to her face like this was probably way too much. Here the little pipsqueak she created is telling a woman who has interviewed every major head of state that she should read a picture book so she could understand it.

Elisabeth should have been fired early on when she equated Gay marriage to bestiality.
On a side note I also think maybe Elisabeth Hasselbeck's marriage is over and she doesn't want to be on television waving the all too familiar hypocritical family values flag every week, while being divorced. I mean evey time the Hot Topic covered a notable person that wandered from a marriage and cheated, Elisabeth would become extremely vocal in disdain for the cheater, as if she had a familiar background in this department.
