Media Obsession About 2014, 2016 Is All About Their Disliking President Obama

David Gregory let us all in on a not-well-kept secret: the beltway media doesn't like President Obama. That's why they're beating the drums already for the next two election cycles.

It's simple: if the Rs score big victories, the political dynamic in DC and the country changes, and not in the President's favor. This what the media is hoping for.

Think about it - if the media thought it most likely that things would stay the same politically for the next two cycles, or if the Ds continue to pick up seats (or, if that was what the media hoped for), there would be no election stories on the air right now, especially 20 months out from 2014 and 3.5 years out from 2016.

By harping on the 2014 & 2016 elections cycles EVERY DAY, right now, the media is building their "people want a change from Obama" narrative, even when their "reporting" shows Ds leading in various match ups right now.

That speculating about future candidates takes up time they don't have to spend on actual reporting.

and especially if we can also get a (real) supermajority in the senate, or at least more meaningful filibuster reform, then certainly the story changes.

in fact, having a unified washington under the democrats would be a HUGE story, whereas gains by republicans would actually just be more of the same paralysis, unless they sweep as well.

no, their support for republicans is more sinister than merely wanting an entertaining story to tell.
