Rand Paul Mulling 2016 Bid

Rand Paul Mulling 2016 Bid

Riding a wave of publicity following his epic filibuster of John Brennan, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) admitted in an interview published Thursday that he is considering a presidential bid in 2016.

"We're looking at it very seriously," Paul told Politico. “I think our party needs something new, fresh and different."

Paul said the GOP has a strong presence in the country's solidly red states, but needs to reach out to the West Coast, New England and the Great Lakes areas. Paul said he wouldn't make a decision on a 2016 bid until sometime in 2014.

RaNd reminds the boDy politick that we muSt be WarY of a BeerBagger Party (R) Putsch from oCCultEd quaRters UnKnowN.

Who knows what strange charismatic demagogic, moneybuck lubricated entity - like rANd -- may suddenly unexpectedly vomitously emerge from the occult depths at the Bottom of the RepubliBag (R) to gin up higher intensities of fear and hate...?

Rand paSSes the kEy RepubliCAn teSt: he's a BONA FIde chickenhawk. Repubbies and Baggers routinely choose chickenhawks as their 'leADerS' They like to screw our our sons and daughters who serve America in uniform, and they routinely crap all over honorable veterans when they think they can get away with it.

"When you least expect it, you're elected. You're the hYpoCritical Scourge of the Day! Smile, you're on Right Wing Camera!" (to be sung to the tune of "Smile, You're on Candid Camera).

Some years back the annual Gathering for banjo collectors over your side coincided with someone listing on ebay , at an opening figure of a few dollars with no reserve, what they thought was a pre war Gibson 5 string which they'd bought in a yard sale. The usual suspects most of whom have no interest whatsoever in Gibsons preferring old time stuff just watched out of curiosity and then amazement as it reached over $50,000 !

I've slimmed my collection down to about 80. Must learn to play sometime.

And they had three instruments of interest:

A pre-war (I don't recall the year) Mastertone, priced at $55,000,

A 1934 Martin D45 (beautiful instrument!), priced at $125,000,

A 1920-something Gibson Lloyd Loard F-5 mandolin, priced at a whopping $225,000.

I asked the rep about the Loar, and he picked it up and handed it to me like it was nothing! I played it a bit, and it was a truly amazing instrument.

Kinda neat to see all those high-end instruments in one place.

But only if he promises to go 3rd Party after the Rovians kick his ass.

Corporatist Republicans deprived of their lunatic fringe vote aren't gonna go too far.

In fact, running 3rd-party "Fringers" in state & local elections might even help defang Gerrymandering, although I can't quite imagine how to make that happen on a practical level.

Romney was the best shot the GOP had because he was less of a right-winger than others. Not to say Romney was not a very right-wing politicians, but compared to Gingrich and Huckabee, for example, he was.
