NEVER, never EVER, ever, will I give them one faction of an ounce of credibility even if they have one good idea.
Never.
There are plenty of good ideas right here amongst the Dems.

So, .... Senor Bryanto ... You favor conservative policies?

(11,804 posts)Actually it was more a comment on the political realities we live in. There are a lot of republicans out there - of course we should fight for our principles, but at times we are going to have to compromise.
That said, I am also discouraged that many of our leaders never really suit up to fight for our principles.

(40 posts)With all due respect, I think this attitude is a bit extreme. Yeah, Libertarians can be real nut cases. But a truly good idea is still good, no matter who espouses it. This country needs all the good ideas it can get.

(12,504 posts)...Libertarian good ideas in politics and policy, very often mimics something already presented by someone else that has already garnered my support. I shan't be minimizing or passing off my party's kudos, to assuage and stroke a Libertarian politician. The Libertarians carry way too much other baggage that would also be given ambiant or residual credibility in such cases.

(3,867 posts)The thing I like the least about Libertarians is their pompous douche baggery. Like they are the most intelligent ones because they do not identify with either mainstream party. Hipsters of politics if you will. And like they're favorite jam bands, they are irrelevant.

To each their own obviously but I would not hesitate to say something along the lines of "that rat-faced right-wing crotchstain called McCain actually had a good idea today."
on edit: assuming it was a good idea, which is a huge assumption

(62,325 posts)I will think about where I stand on an issue, decide what is right and what is wrong, research it if necessary, although some things are pretty obvious, and then even George Bush or Dick Cheney or Rand Paul, will never succeed in forcing me to take a wrong position on something I know is wrong.
How sad that you would let Rand Paul force you to not take a principled stand on something so very important.
I am glad to have the confidence to take a stand for what is right regardless of the opinions of anyone else.
No wonder the PTBs have so much control over us. They know how weak we are.
I have a feeling they will read posts like this and use this tactic again and again to make sure they win every time.
Such a sad OP, especially coming from a democrat. I used to think we Democrats were the hope of this country, and then I see something like this.
Btw, I'm sure you meant to write 'principle'. Standing on the PrinciPAL to refuse to give kudos to anyone would probably get you in trouble

(12,504 posts)as for the rest......this isn't new thinking because of Rand....so you are one off on that judgement. You apparently are so wonderful and noble and true and courageous. You know the mind, motivations and heart of Sheepshank. Good thing you are not a Libertarian.
How sad a democrat judges other democrats without a shred of knowledge of that true person.
