In the Beginning, there was Sequestration

And so they came forth two by two in hats adorned with teabags, carrying misspelled signs. Propelled by nothing more than hatred, fueled by racism and propaganda

They came to destroy the United States government...to “drown it in a bathtub”

First they sowed fear and bigotry

They demonized Blacks, Latinos, Homosexuals, Muslims and the Leader of the Free World

The demeaned and blamed Latino babies and immigrants

They came to divide and conquer the nation

They came to destroy unions and end worker’s rights that have existed since the 1930’s

They tried to repeal child labor laws and eliminate the minimum wage

They gave billions in bonuses to the Barons on Wall Street and honored their contracts, while

They shredded the contracts of workers on Main Street and robbed them of their pensions, so

They could give to the rich in the form of tax cuts and subsidies, so

They would create jobs, or so they said, but the jobs have not come

Haven’t you noticed?

They said they came to dismantle ObamaCare, but

ObamaCare was just an excuse

They came to destroy Social Security and Medicare

They came to destroy programs that have helped the poor for generations

They came to destroy the very ladders that lifted their parents and grandparents from the ravages of the Great Depression

Food Stamps that feed the hungry and the working poor

Unemployment benefits that support those who have lost their jobs

Medicaid that aids the disabled

They closed Mental Hospitals, Medical Clinics and schools, so

They could give tax-cuts and subsidies to the rich

Haven’t you been paying attention?

They came to destroy democracy

They came to erode the Civil Rights of minorities and women

They came to destroy the Voting Rights that assure the fair and free representation of all Americans

Just as they did in 1890, during Reconstruction after Blacks were elected to office. They changed the registration laws and the Supreme Court overturned the Voting Rights Act. What will the Supreme Court do today?
They came to divide and conquer

Can’t you see?

They came...ushered by old, rich white men, afraid of irrelevance and loss of superiority

They came to shatter perceptions about the first Black President

They spoke of Anglo Saxon understandings, said the President didn’t know how to be an American

They came to demean women, to slow their progress because professional women have fewer babies and well-paid women are independent so

They withhold support for fair wages to women

They closed abortion clinics and defunded Planned Parenthood to stop the aborting of American white babies

They rail against contraception

“Preventing babies from being born is not medicine. That's not— that's not constructive to our culture and our civilization. If we let our birth rate get down below replacement rate we're a dying civilization.” ~ Rep. Steve King
They close Head Start programs

Two Maryland Republican officials, C. Paul Smith and Kirby Delauter justified their decision to cut Head Start by saying that women should really be married and home with their kids, thus rendering the program unnecessary.
They redefine rape to assure no babies will be lost

They debate the merits of a Violence Against Women Act

They have come wrapped in the American Flag, quoting the Constitution and singing “America the Beautiful”, but they are not patriots. They have come to destroy the nation.

They finally outlawed lynching in 2005 and that same year introduced “Stand your Ground”, which is nothing more than the right to kill. As we debate the merits of gun safety laws, intelligent people should ask, “why is there a need for so many guns?”

They came to destroy "the America of equal rights and opportunity" and unless we unite and stop them, history books will read... in the beginning there was sequestration.
