Robo-letter, or none at all?

I've been writing my local reps and congress critters lately, asking for their courage in supporting gun control legislation despite threats made to them.

I've gotten a fair number of form letters back, and I know they're busy, but I wonder if DUers think those are even worth their time.

A personal letter back is best, but rare; the rest of the time, is a roboletter better than nothing, or do you feel it heaps additional insult? I prefer at least knowing they got my message, but I'm curious about the rest of you fine folks.
