If the Pentagon thinks that is a great way to show what a big, powerful and expensive military we have, maybe they should reconsider. Maybe it isn't terribly smart to put on such a display of wasting tax dollars at the same time so many people are struggling just to stay in their homes and have food to eat.

Yes, they are "extra" flights in that they are scheduled for that particular time and place. But not extra in the sense that at some point that pilot would have put that time on that aircraft.

Every pilot has to fly a minimum number of hours within a specified period of time--30 hours every 60 days for example--to remain "current".

Given that the pilots do need flight time to stay proficient, I am sort of ok with these flights.... a bit of marketing for recruiting.

The goobers griping about the flights the President's family takes should also consider the pilots of POTUS flights gain flight time for skill development.
