Pew Poll: GOP Voters Continue to Give Field Subpar Ratings

A Pew poll for a pew GOP field:

Amid a bruising primary campaign, Republicans remain unimpressed with their party’s presidential field. In fact, more Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters say the GOP field is only fair or poor (52%) than did so in early January (44%).

By comparison, just 46% of Republican voters have positive opinions of the GOP field, according to the latest survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted Jan. 26-29 among 1,006 adults, including 341 Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters. In early January, shortly before the New Hampshire primary, 51% gave the field excellent or good ratings while 44% rated the candidates collectively as only fair or poor.

That survey showed that GOP voters’ ratings of the field are far less positive than were opinions of the Republican field in 2008. At about this point four years ago, 68% of Republican and GOP-leaning voters rated the field as excellent or good.

2. Actually yes. We're talking about Bachmann, Cain, Perry, and Santorum.

Yes, Giuliani is a scum bucket, but he's wasn't the worst candidate. He, Fred Thompson and Huckster were much better than the entire field of crazies this year.

6. They're just destined to get worse and worse every year . . .

. . . . because they still think this is either 1984 or 2003. It's like they're looking for their heirs to the Reagan mantle while not realizing his administration (along with Bewsh IIs) played a huge role in the mess we're in today.

No one wants to hear their "Austerity for thee, not for meeeee" message anymore.

NO one wants to hear corporate/1% apologizing anymore.

The "tax cutz" canard is rotted. Wage increases are needed, not debt-increasing crumbs.

Modern younger Republican voters aren't necessarily the bigots their elder counterparts were. Some of them are even rejecting the staunch homophobia of the modern GOP.

Nobody wants to hear it anymore.

Out of touch phonies, economic Darwinists, taxophobic whack-a-loons, serial philanderers and bigots (sometimes, all five!). . . that's all they got.

That's the best, most condensed and pithy summation of who they are. And it's true, it really is all they've got.

Unfortunately, though those of my friends and co-workers that are die-hard Repubs aren't at all enthusiastic about any of the GOP's runners, they unabashedly admit they'll vote for whoever is running against Obama no matter what. It's not a race thing; it really isn't. They'd go for Cain in a heartbeat. Just ideological hacks.

some of the demographic groups they managed to piss off for the past generation are those that have the highest birth rates, some of those are now of legal voting age...in addition one of their key positions (being against the GLBT community) is collapsing...more and more folks are reconsidering their stance on domestic partnership and same sex marriage!

No wonder the Alfalfa Club nominated the well-larded and cheery Jeb as their "wishful thinking" nominee. Even a potted plant looks better by comparison to the current field, and Jeb comes off like the Messiah.

... that, by definition, even the dumbest, looniest, most dangerous candidate with an (R) after his name is far better than ANY candidate with a (D), and I bet they never stop to figure out why they believe such things.
