I still receive his emails, even though I have moved... and ended up a year later with Allen West ( I figure I must have been an ax murderer in a previous life)

In any case these are the current results of a poll of his constituents he sent out today.... I find this astounding.

What do you think Congress and the President should do?

Replace the sequester with equal or greater spending cuts by reducing government waste and reforming entitlements 51.57%

Replace the sequester with a combination of tax increases and other spending cuts 25.65%

Replace the sequester with only tax increases 3.27%

Nothing – leave the sequester in place 17.74%

Delay or block the sequester without cutting spending or raising taxes 1.77%

2. Can anything be worse than West?

Here's the thing about West. He sent out a weekly newsletter...very well done. Very informative...if confirmed that he is a crazy man. If you emailed him, he always replied with a (too) lengthy explanation of why he was not going to support whatever reasonable request you made...but it was a reply. He took the job very seriously. I don't think many of them do. Without redistricting, he'd still be there...I don't think anyone expected St. Lucie County to oust him in such a big way.

3. He was my rep, too

So glad he moved to another district - I guess an easier Tea Party Fundy Type district, too. His area is now mostly farmland and Okeechobee. He moved out of our area so Allen West could move in. And thank goodness he lost!!

4. But just barely...

West carried his slice of PBC by a small margin and won big time in Martin CTY...St. Lucie ousted him...

Actually, Rooney was quicker than West to recognize a problem...he jumped before West and West jumped into what would have been Rooney's district. St. Lucie Cty delivered a surprise blow.

5. Love my county because of that

West showed up to a few St Lucie county events over the last year. A lot of people thought he was a carpet-bagger. They knew he didn't live in our district and couldn't stand that. Murphy lives in Jupiter, but he learned to pay attention to St Lucie County. He had 2 offices in the county and was at every single St Lucie county event. West loved his Martin County folks, so he thought they would that alone could win him the district. A lot of Martin folks thought he was a little looney and didn't vote for him. Murphy took away Republican votes from West in Martin County. It was a beautiful site to see election night!! I was dancing!!

But Martin still went big time for West....I've looked at the results from all the county SOEs...Your county really rode to the rescue! I've been in PBC for 25 years...I have never liked Martin Cty and always liked St. Lucie....It's rather weird how that works!

District 18 includes all of St. Lucie and Martin counties, and about 30 percent of Palm Beach County. Mr. Murphy’s team had hoped to get 53 percent of the vote in Democratic-leaning St. Lucie, 40 percent in Republican-leaning Martin and 53 percent in Palm Beach County. Mr. Murphy did better than he had hoped in St. Lucie, with 55.3 percent, but underperformed in Palm Beach, finishing 190 votes behind Rep. West.

That left Martin, where registered Republicans outnumber Democrats almost 2 to 1. Where no one who runs for local office wins unless he or she runs as a Republican. Yet Martin County is where Allen West lost.

For starters, Mr. Murphy got nearly 43 percent of the vote, greatly beating his own expectations. He got roughly 2,500 more votes than President Barack Obama; in St. Lucie, Mr. Obama, more predictably, ran just slightly ahead or Mr. Murphy.

But the big number from Martin County is that Rep. West got nearly 5,000 fewer votes than Mitt Romney. Nearly 5,000 Romney voters weren’t going to vote for a Democratic congressman, but they also weren’t going to vote for Allen West. Since he lost the election by fewer than 2,000 votes, he lost it in Martin County.

West really hurt himself with his arrogant treatment of Bobby Crowder in the primary. Crowder had just retired as Sheriff of Martin County and was widely respected. West refused to debate Crowder before the primary and refused to shake his hand either before or after the primary. His churlish behavior did not go unnoticed. I talked to a lot of Republicans during the campaign and a significant number said they couldn't vote for West. They showed their displeasure on Election Day.

10. Hey thanks...according to the SOE sites

for the first week after the election it was St Lucie that pushed Murphy across the finish line. I've move again, and now live in Lois Frankel's new district...but I donated to Murphy's campaign because I dislike West so much. Of course the SOEs are just based on vote count...the swing in Martin, really was effective.

7. I live in Broward County...

So Allen West wasn't my representative, but I always considered him an embarrassment to the great state of Florida and the U.S. House of Representatives. A disgraced soldier, with very shallow values.
And so looney. He announces to the world that there are known Communists in the Democratic leadership without a shred of proof? Get off the stage, you asshole.
He did nothing for his constituency while in Congress. The answer was always no.
May he rot in hell. The Fucker!

8. Yes, he was just awful...

The Biker gang was the worst. Somewhere on my old computer is the article written by on of the member referring to women as oral relief stations, or something equally obscene. When it came to light, they removed it I guess.
