There are some things I will not tolerate in my household, and that includes racial slurs whether or not they are in jest (with the only exception being historical context). But I guess Marco Rubio has no problem with it when it comes to musical tastes.
"FUN FACT: Rubio's fave rap songs of all-time are NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" ... Eminem's "Lose Yourself," and 'Pac's "Killuminati."

(3,867 posts)Why does listening to rap make you a racist? Music is meant to be enjoyed by all not just those who look like those singing said music. To hear the "N" word, in a song performed by a black person, without recoiling in disgust and hatred does not mean you have no problem with it.
I can't stand Dave Matthews but that doesn't mean that I assume all who listen to him are ok with being a douche.
Also, Eminem doesn't say "the N word"...in any song.
Stands for "N***ers With Attaitude".
Kinda the point of the group. They came up from the projects of LA, Compton, Englewood, LBC before and during the riots. That word meant more to them than people who take offense to its use realize. Taking a slur against you and turning it around and being proud of it is something to be happy about, not slam them.

(16,399 posts)So Common uses the N-word in a lot of his songs, many of which are about social justice.
Should he have been invited to the White House? Should Barack Obama presumably be listening to his music? Should I as a white man be listening to his music? Should it be banned? Or is this just about Marco Rubio being a Republican and scoring points on him.
I find this a rather pointless discussion unless you want to broaden it.
"Lose Yourself" by Eminem is a great song, IMHO

There are many legitimate criticisms to be made of Rubio. Blaming him for language in music is not among them.

(43,182 posts)Listening to songs with that word in it are not the same as actually using the word yourself.
When I read the post title, I actually thought he had gone on record in saying that N____r was not an offensive term.
Too many real criticisms of Rubio that need not be overshadowed by a fake one.
