http://blogs.kansas.com/weblog/2012/01/brownback-has-lower-approval-rating-than-obama/Is it possible more Kansans approve of President Obamas job performance than Gov. Sam Brownbacks? That was the result of the latest SurveyUSA poll, conducted by KWCH, Channel 12, from a sample of 523 registered Kansas voters that was 46 percent Republican, 25 percent Democratic and 28 percent independent. The poll found that 38 and 36 percent of those surveyed approved of the job performance of Obama and Brownback, respectively. They were less neck and neck in disapproval ratings 56 percent for Obama and 49 percent for Brownback. The governors approval had slipped 4 percentage points since November. Meanwhile, 41 and 40 percent of those polled approved of the job performance of Sens. Jerry Moran and Pat Roberts, respectively.

Wow, you know that left a stain somewhere.

(34,119 posts)but then we would end up most likely with Kobach since Brownback would get to appoint his replacement. What a recall huh?
Brownback could have a 2% approval rating and a 98% disapproval rating and still get re-elected since we have no real Democratic Party here. They are such a mess and then there is the 0% support from the national Dems. We are stuck. This poor state does not even know when there is a Dem opponent until they see the ballot and go WhoTF is that?
We are going to hit bottom here and become a state with nothing happening but litigation. These new laws they are proposing are criminal and all the groups are ready to take them up and litigate. We will end up with less than 0 money and no help for anyone in need.
Still, whatever you are involved in, keep it up. We are fighting as hard as we can and developing new strategies. I have never been more frustrated. Reading the paper has become my one disgusting thing a day I make myself do.......and I clean up after animals all day.

(96,793 posts)Still waiting for candidates to run against Peck and O'Neal. Seems like a no-brainer.

(34,119 posts)to run. Have a few maybe. Still, with no money and no support from any Dem organization anywhere it is awful hard work. It is hard enough in city councils.
I am so sick and tired of all of this. The Dems have laid down and rolled over so badly that they make the Dems in Washington look like magnificent heros.
Pretty bad when you can get meetings with moderate Republicans (for now, I don't see many making it out of the next election cycle) but the Democrats won't even give you a meeting.
Our allies are no longer routinely Dems. In fact we have some very bad Dems in office now who would sell the whole lot of us if they saw benefit in it and frankly I think they do.

(9,213 posts)Almost more than Repube governors. This isn't much of a surprise that they don't like Brownback.

(34,119 posts)and usually only when the R running is a crazy nutbag. Now crazy nutbag is all they have and the Dems have nothing. Seriously, they could put up an ideal candidate and lose it. Nobody outside of the NE corner of the state would even know they were running someone.
It is not the people that are the problem it is the politicians and the Dem party is essentially non existent anymore. They don't ever even talk to people, nobody knows who they are and they do not ever run a campaign showing the people what the R's have been doing. If it were otherwise we might make some headway. They continually redo themselves and each redo is worse than what they had. That and their attitude, at least when I have talked to them, is to shrug and do nothing. Those that speak out are usually not even heard outside of those of us working on issues.
Look, I don't think people outside of those who are actively working on issues even knows they exist here anymore. They are silent and complacent and complicit. You can only do so much without support so running candidates is actually fruitless although we do it every time and they end up with one ad in one place shown 2 or 3 times and then the money is gone. Stand up for LGBT rights and the party shows you the door. Stand up for women's rights and the party shows you the door. Stand up for unions, teachers...all the things that Dems usually do and they show you the door. Actually I am being kind, they show you the door and then shove you out of it, tell you not to come back and then slam it shut. It has happened so much over the past few cycles that it is a given than anyone left of Brownback won't be seen or heard from again and it is the Dems that do it.
