I think this speaks for most of us here on D.U.

A great Rant I found on BartCop:

Dear Republicans

Fuck you. No, I'm not joking. I'm sick of this bullshit.

I'm sick of the way you've corrupted the public discourse. The way you've made it acceptable to hurl any insult you like at public officials. The way you blame us for the current atmosphere of hatred by accusing us of starting it with hating Bush. Like Bush didn't come on the heels of eight years of your tireless efforts to destroy Clinton by any means necessary, like Bush didn't give us good reason to complain. A couple of posters on a website compared Bush to Hitler and you've used it as free license to compare Obama to Hitler 24/7 and I'm sick of your hypocrisy, where it's acceptable to say shit about Obama that you would have had an apoplectic fit (and did) if anything remotely similar had been said about your guys. Keith Olbermann calls Cheney a fascist when he was actually using fascist tactics and you think that gives you the freedom to call Obama a fascist, socialist, Marxist constantly for no reason at all. Fuck you and your bullshit false equivalency.

I'm sick of the way you've made the populace stupid. Around a fifth of your populace thinks the sun orbits the earth, over half think evolution never happened. Your populace actually believe the media has a liberal bias. Not because it has, you have the most conservative media in the free world, but because you've shouted it so loud and so often that you've brainwashed the public into believing it, like the battered wife who parrots her husband's insults. You've got a whole segment of the populace shouting about socialism and fascism and none of them know what the fucking words mean. You've convinced them that fascism is a left-wing thing. You've got them so turned around that some of them actually believe global warming isn't happening. Fuck you.

I'm sick of the way you try to destroy the whole concept of government. You've tricked the people into believing that government can't do anything right, always being careful to exclude the army because you love your bullets and bombs but you've so destroyed the public's ability to reason that they don't even think of interstate highways, the space program, the national parks program, etc. Government is always great when it's doing what you tell it and inevitably corrupt when it isn't. Fuck you.

I'm sick of your rewriting of history. You've bleated so loud and long that Reagan was a great president, that the New Deal didn't work, that cutting taxes increases revenues, that you actually have the people believing this bullshit. And these are the same people who will go on to become teachers and fill their student's heads with this self-same bullshit. Reagan was a mediocre president at best who had the good fortune to be in power when the USSR collapsed under it's own weight and you bastards have turned him into the Second Coming. You've rewritten history so that everything foul and hateful and wrong can be attributed to a Democrat while everything worthwhile is a Republican's glory. Fuck you.

I'm sick of your dragging the center ever further to the right. How many whackjob fringe ideas have you dragged into the mainstream? The aforementioned idea that tax cuts increase revenues, the Laffer Curve, the idea that Welfare harms the poor, the idea that there's rampant fraud in Welfare, the idea that whatever is good for corporations is good for the country. And you push these ideas through your corporate media and you do it so long and loud that they become part of the accepted political landscape and because it is easier to tell a lie than to debunk one, we never get away from this rancid shit. Fuck you.

I'm sick of your casual criminality. Teddy Kennedy, a man who's boots you were not worthy to lick, was just buried and all I've heard from my rightist friends for days is Chappaquiddick, Chappaquiddick, Chappaquiddick. Your fucking golden boy raped the Constitution, mainly because he wanted to; tortured random people (and waterboarding is torture, fuck you too) essentially because he wanted to; spent like a drunken sailor, essentially because he wanted to; invaded a sovereign nation, essentially for the loot and destroyed people's lives, essentially for the evilulz and you bastards are obsessed with a fucking accident a Democrat had decades ago? You don't go on about Laura Bush killing some guy decades ago. Fuck you.

I'm sick of you praising pure evil. You're letting Dick Cheney be the standard-bearer for Republicanism. Dick Cheney, a man so nakedly evil that even his friends call him "Darth"; a man so callous that Lex Luthor would recoil in terror; a man who probably has dismembered hitchhikers in those man-sized safes and kills plants by his mere proximity. Fuck you.

I'm sick of your attempts to tilt the playing field permanently in your favor. Democrats filibustered a few of Bush's most hateful judicial picks and you pricks started screaming about doing away with the filibuster but now you're in the minority, you're filibustering absolutely everything you can and whining when you don't get the chance. You ignored everything the Democrats had to say when you had power and now that you don't, you scream that everyone must be bipartisan. You don't budge a fucking inch on anything but you insist that everyone must compromise to meet you. That's your idea of politics: Don't move an inch, force the other guy to come to the right to meet you and call the result a "compromise". Fuck you.

I'm sick of your corporatism. You dress it up in false populism but anyone with half a brain can see that you're the brought and paid for subsidiary of big business. You keep pushing tax cuts as the answer for absolutely everything, you keep sabotaging every attempt to control the excesses of big business. You genuinely think the world would be a better place if it was a combination of Bill Gibson's dystopian vision of a corporate dominated world and Ayn Rand's bullshit Objectivism, yet another entry in mankind's endless attempts to find a moral justification for naked greed. You've taken the clinically insane spewings of a woman literally to the right of Hitler (pardon my Godwins) and the 1984-like vision of a dystopian author and convinced yourselves that would be a good place to live. Big business is the enemy of the people, always has been. The ideal for the corporate class is to have a small pool of people rich enough to buy their fucking crap and a much larger pool of people so poor and with so few options that they can be used and abused at the corporation's whim. A corporation's objective is not to look after you, it is to make ever-larger profits by any means necessary. You bastards want to reinstate fucking slavery to the corporate class and you've made the public so fucking stupid that they actually swallow the bullshit you're serving up, they actually want to enslave themselves to the corporations that abuse them at every turn. They actually care more about the corporations right to make obscene profits than they care about their child's right to live on a habitable planet. Fuck you.

Fuck you, you scumridden shitehawks, you make me sick. Just fuck off and die.

Sun Feb 24, 2013, 12:14 PM
Feb 2013

either by the school of hard-knocks (taking away everything they need to survive in this country, which is jobs, social security, public education, SSI, etc - which will hurt everybody) or by circumventing the corporate owned and operated media (which is the bulk of our media) and going directly to the people, as President Obama is doing. I think the first strategy is the only way to wake up the WooWoos.

But no matter what is decided, it's clear that for staunch Republican voters to understand what the GOP really want for this country, their (nest) eggs need to be broken.

And while we're at it, we need to get rid of staunch pro-tradition Senatorial Dems who didn't want to vote for filibuster change, and then do a Tom Delay in Democratic strong states: gerrymandering districts in off-census years to favor Democrats in order to counter the heavy gerrymandering the GOP had done in 2010.

We'll never win for the American people as long as one side cheats while the other continues to play by the rules. This is where strong institutions like MoveOn.org and DKos can be major players. What disappointed me in them this last election was, they didn't use their power to put forward and/or support true progressive candidates to primary DINOs like Feinstein. Feinstein had a very strong contender, but even as I posted about him here and asked that DU support him, he got less votes than Orly Taitz! What was the end result of not having removed Feinstein? She voted against changing the filibuster rule, as did the other "progressive" Barbara Boxer. This was a MAJOR disappointment.

We also need to make the change in our own hearts and minds and begin to fight to give these entrenched senators and congresscritters term limits. The ONLY way to realize term limits for congresscritters is to tell ourselves - and believe it - that it's time to vote a certain person out, because if we wait for these same congresscritters to pass a term limits bill, we can wait till kingdom come. I mean, would you vote to fire yourself? Change, as President Obama has said over and over again, comes from the bottom up and the middle out.

Glad you're here! I couldn't agree more - with you OR with the OP. Unfortunately we DO have to push it to extremes to wake people up. But we have so much fact-based ammo to use in our arguments. There's a bumper sticker that was all over the place during the bush/cheney years - "if you're not outraged, you're not paying attention."

I am BEYOND outraged. You could fry an egg on my forehead, I'm so steamed about these bastards. Why can't we deport them to Somalia - where everything they want is there, in full, glorious reality: NO government. NO regulations. NO advocacy for the poor. NO restrictions on guns. NO restrictions on warlords and/or pirates. Greedy schmucks running amok. Millions of poor and hungry and sick and disenfranchised. Total anarchy. Isn't that what the teabaggers want, after all? I wish they'd relocate themselves. Self-deportation would work wonders here!

Something else I wrote here that needs to be seen and understood. Not because I wrote it, but because the facts in it are vital to be understood and NOT forgotten. The single most important reason NEVER EVER EVER to vote for a republi-CON for high national office OR state-wide office. Not for governor, senator, secretary of state (in an individual state office), OR congress, and CERTAINLY not for president. These assholes look to gain a foothold locally or regionally, from which they can realistically reach for higher office. And it's not just them that's near-lethal, it's everybody they bring into office WITH them.

from the health lobby than any other legislator, a certain ex-Sen from Rhode Island took some of the highest funding from banking and credit card companies; Raptor started under Clinton as did the first Wall Street meltdowns (and yes, so did the takedown of Milkin and Boesky) and so did the deregulation of banking to the point that almost anyone who wanted to call themselves a bank could and banks were first allowed to have branches interstate. Remember a big majority of Democratic legislators went along with W on Homeland Defense and the Patriot Act, Gitmo and the wars. Didn't FISA start under Carter when he signed it into law?

There's plenty of blame. Its not only not all Republicans, its not only Republicans.

I follow your stuff and I agree with you 99% of the time, but I think I have a valid point. Wall Street funneled money to both candidates in the last election. Spending their consciences or covering their butts either way. I agree with Sen Warren: why haven't bankers been jailed? What does google do for the economy that deserves billion tax free income any more than GE or 2/3rds of corporation at a time when they are making record proffits at low or no taxes.

That Democrats are as much to blame? Or some? Maybe you need to be more precise in your accusations. Your example of Baca doesn't hold water with me because he is the perfect example of a sellout Democrat. A conservative who calls himself a. Democrat simply because it serves his personal interests.

My point is that there is hardly a comparison between the parties other than generalities along the lines of self-interest, and corruption. But the republicans have taken things to an entirely different level with grave consequences. You're complaining about cracks in the rear window caused by the Democrats when what the republicans did is equivalent to blowing out the whole front windshield. Priorities man, priorities.

If your in the Authoritarian in-group then you are expected to think the same way, and believe the same things as everyone else in your in-group, and blind loyalty dictates that you must never question your leaders or their motives; idle worshiping is a big plus. Once you meet the in-group criteria you can then be considered as being right (as in correct).

And if you don't meet the criteria, then your not in the in-group, and you are then considered to be wrong, and part of the out-group.

There's a lot of that going on today, posts like that to be picked up all over the web. Note the other OP here today that repeated a questionable quote about abortion by a Republican that, if accurate, was dredged up from years ago. Yet here it is on our boards today and probably all over the web, usefully inciting hatred for the Reds and Blue Party loyalty/identification.

And the timing makes sense.

Our *Democratic* President has once again offered up unconscionable cuts to Social Security benefits....even though they are desperately needed by millions of Americans who have already been looted to impoverishment by the one percent, and even though the cuts are opposed by vast majorities of Americans, even across party lines.

Faced with not only the potential for boiling anger from Democrats who have been betrayed after a campaign promising to protect Social Security....but also the more serious possibility that Americans could actually unite across party lines to oppose this outrage....

Well, it only makes sense that the one percent consider it very important right now to keep us focused on and hating each other, rather than on the outrages they are committing, bipartisanly, against all of us.

32. Elected Republicans and GOP mouthpieces are masters at the diction they use
Sat Feb 23, 2013, 03:39 PM

to convince Americans to vote for their narrow, regressive agenda. Most of them are probably aware of how out of touch and cruel their party's agenda is, but they just want to convince enough people to support them so they can keep dodging taxes and sending their money overseas. A major way they do this is the diction they use for whatever they want to sell to the public, or whatever they oppose. Some classic examples I can think of include "out of control spending", "economic freedom", "traditional marriage", "religious freedom", "job creators", "government-run health care", "terrorists", "radical socialism", "welfare queens", "anchor babies", and saying "Democrat Party" instead of "Democratic Party". They know that there are a handful of Americans who obviously lack critical thinking skills and cannot see through the BS, therefore, they take advantage of it.

which should either be "politicians" or "noise machine"

If you speak to Republicans, then you are talking to millions of self-identified Republicans and Republican voters. And those are Americans we need to bring to our side.

Except there is no "our" because Bartcop and myself are not on the same side. Bartcop is too stupid to realize that Clinton and Obama are no more liberal than the media.

"Your populace actually believe the media has a liberal bias. Not because it has, you have the most conservative media in the free world, but because you've shouted it so loud and so often that you've brainwashed the public into believing it, like the battered wife who parrots her husband's insults."

He's right, this isn't a game to score points against the opposing side. What government does is important. They make the rules that we live by. Those rules have been stacked to favor a small subset of the population. We know who the creeps are who are responsible for this.
Fuck them.

have been for years, and this just about sums up the reasons for it. Everywhere you look, people are mindlessly gobbling up the next new/sparkley/bright/shiny idea or thing at the corpora-fascist buffet line and then declaring "mmmmm, tasty". How many shit sandwiches does it take before folks wise up? Thank you, samplegirl

Living in a red state does not make it easier either. They bend overbackwards to let big corp screw them. Plus it seems the poorest people want to identify with the business CEOs that want them not to have a voice in the work place and destroy the big three that THEY depend on. It's enough to drive you nuts.

Although the few people on my list that it would have applied to have gotten the boot.

The only thing I would add is:

After 9/11 President Bush had almost the entire nation supported him going after those who launched the attacks. Bush used that support to con people with the war in Iraq. Now after the string of shootings when the nation once again has shown strong support for taking action on an issue, in this case gun control, the Republicans have put ideology ahead of taking action to get something done. That is pure hypocrisy.

The USSR collapsed in 1991, when George HW Bush was president.

A little ironic that this appears in a paragraph bemoaning the "rewriting of history".

It might be a variation on that. Not to condone either, but familiarity of a word or phrase can take some of the force out of it.

...................my sentiments.................exactly.

the last sentence is a great summation of the entire piece. proof is readily available in the obituary column every day.

they ARE dying off. recent population/demographic studies in regard to the changing electorate show that the repug right wing KKK base is shrinking at a rate of 2% every 2 yrs. the repug powerbrokers fully realize this yet they can't get their extreme base to realize the need to expand/moderate their views in order to increase voters for their party.

they hate minorities..................but they need their votes.

as for the profane language..............it creates colorful impact.

dick cheney had no problem using the same words on the hallowed floor of the senate in a heated verbal exchange with sen. frank leahy during the bush cabal yrs.

fuck them...........seems perfect.
