Slingshots and improvised weapons. If you have a lathe you can make a lot of nasty things.

and the government is so irretrievably corrupt it coddles the guilty and oppresses everybody else.

It sounds sadly familiar. I just hope I'm dead and gone by the time it happens.

and the HDTV is on broadcast, only, meaning nobody much sees the sports teams play but the fat cats and ordinary slobs have to read about it the next day in the newspaper, things will definitely start to happen.

That's probably a long way off. Working folks are still able to pay the bills and live fairly decently. When their health insurance goes bye-bye, that will stop. And it will.

Improvised mortars and slingshots to toss sticks of dynamite are rather underpowered against, say, a conventional T-72 tank.

One thing they do earn credit for is tenacity. They are a dedicated bunch of rebels.
