Huckabee, Gingrich: Obama Is ‘Very Different’ Than George Washington

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich paid a visit to Mike Huckabee's radio show Friday, and the conversation kicked off with the two conservative leaders discussing how President Barack Obama is "very different" than George Washington.

Gingrich will be delivering an online lecture about the first president on Friday afternoon live from Mount Vernon.

"This is a very different president than our first one," Huckabee said. "George Washington was so adamant that we would not have a king and I thought, 'Well, gosh, we've done pretty well until 2008 and now I thnk we may have ended up with one.' Am I too far off in saying that there's probably never been a greater contrast than George Washington than Barack Obama?"

Gingrich concurred, arguing that Obama's handling of the recent budgetary dispute runs counter to Washington's "reticence" and "desire to be a good citizen."

... not comparable to the great slave-owning white guy.

Seriously, they think Obama is acting like a King, especially after George W. Bush? They have the nerve? I guess the black guy got too uppity deciding to run for president and all.

Explain to me why anyone pays attention to these two dickwads?

Oldest one in the book. I'd expect no less from the man who still pretends it's 1994.

Because for a King, Obama sure has a difficult time getting his initiatives passed.

Time to issue a royal decree for a few beheadings methinks.

The "Obama acts like he's a king" meme is big with conservatives; it's really tiresome.

in detail, using real examples, in which ways Obama has successfully exercised the prerogatives of a king. Executive orders? Far fewer than Bush. Legislation? Congress has blocked almost everything Obama has proposed. Appointments? Senate Republicans have held up judicial appointments and have repeatedly blocked Cabinet nominations. If Obama is a king he pretty much sucks at it.

And while we're at it, what about all this yawping from the lunatic right about how Obama and the Democrats have taken away our "freedom"? Tell me, exactly, which things were you free to do under Bush that you no longer are allowed to do because of Obama. You can still go to any church you want; you can still drive your car anywhere you want to go; you can still publish insane trash on the Internet and spread falsehoods on Fox News and talk radio; you can have more guns than ever; you can still lose your shirt in the stock market; you can still fly a Confederate flag on your old pickup truck's radio antenna; you can still accuse innocent people of terrorism because of their religion; you can still homeschool your kids and teach them Jesus rode a dinosaur to church every Sunday. What "freedoms" do you no longer have, you hate-filled troglodytes? Enlighten me.
