It was the first time I recognized just how jingoistic we as a people were becoming. That U S A-U S A chant reminded me so much of similar scenes I had watched of Nazi Germany rallies. It was no surprise that later that year this country elected Reagan, and the rise of virulent, jingoistic conservatism began in this country.
Great victory, scary crowd.
