Damn boom cars!

Across the street from me is a restaurant, 3 guys in a car pulled into the parking lot, opened the doors while blasting something loud.

It literally is loud enough to vibrate my windows.

Hold on...

Two cop cars are there now, the noise stopped dead.

Boom car has driven off.

Cops have driven away too.

That's really got to be bad for their hearing. I'd imagine they'll regret all that loud, loud music in their elderly years when they have to learn sign-language because they can't hear any longer.

I can say that they will be sorry in a few years. I'm lucky, my hearing is still pretty good. My hearing is full spectrum without much reduction in sensitivity. I have friends and former co-workers that are close to deaf.

but I shouldn't be forced to listen if I don't like their tastes.

The booms are so loud they rattle our house windows too. Cops? Not here. We have to rely on the state police which is a useless exercise. They won't respond to kids on 4 wheel ATV's flying up and down the street like they own it unless one of them wrecks.

and had a talk with the guys who agreed to comply with the officers' request to lower the volume. The guys happily drive away (I assume they were happy because that's the way I feel when me and the cops go our separate ways after a short chat). The cops feel good about maintaining the peace. No guns. No drama. Just the police and the citizens agreeing to cooperate with each other, no courts necessary.

Perhaps a bad play on a phrase - been typing code all day long and just procured some smoothe libation and feeling a little loopy.
