Feeding bleach to baby was 'dumbest decision ... in my life'

The man who reportedly mixed bleach into his infant daughter's formula on Sunday morning said he was only trying to help her breathe easier with a home remedy he heard about from a friend.

Carron Washington, 20, spoke to about a dozen members of the media on Monday afternoon in a hastily called news conference that was ended abruptly by a member of the Marion County Public Defender's Office.

"It's probably the dumbest decision I've made in my life," Washington said before the meeting ended.

Washington said his daughter, Cadlynn, had suffered from breathing problems since her birth on Dec. 14.

3. Home remedy?

On the second page it says he was told by another student that this was a home remedy for breathing problems. I could get that if he wasn't a premed student. He had access to instructors and followed the advise of another student (if this is really what happened). So, it appears he made a lot more than one really dumb decision.

5. Quackery is endemic!

People believe stupid shit. That's what gives us coffee enemas to purge toxins!!! (Thank you anyway. Millions of years of evolution gave me a liver which does a pretty damned good job of getting rid of toxins.)

Science-based medicine isn't perfect, but it's certainly better than quackery.

Ask the cancer quack, Hulda Clark. Oopsie! You can't ask her. It seems that the quack who bilked many out of their money, who claimed she could cure all cancer with her quackery, is dead. He died of... wait for it ... Cancer!

Apparently, the liver fluke isn't the cause of all cancer.

If she were still alive, you should get her a bowl, spoon, and milk because Hulda Clark was coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs. And she was responsible for many deaths because of her quackery.

7. In the late 1960s a doctor in

Custer, SD told me to feed my baby a couple of drops of kerosene to calm his croupy cough. No kidding! I didn't do it, of course. Instead, I drove to Hot Springs and found a doctor who was born after the Civil War.

I hope the baby whose father gave her bleach will be okay!
