(3,179 posts)I loved the one that appears to be arguing, over the fence, with the man. That seems very similar to animosity displayed, over the fence, between human neighbors.

(5,937 posts)My dad grew up in south Texas on a ranch, they really did slaughter their own food as needed. fast forward many, many, many years later my father along with my uncle go to a farm belonging to one of my step moms cousins. They had given my family a goat and my dad was going to slaughter it in the way he used to. So, he proceeds to take a knife and tries to cuts the goats neck for it to bleed out. Well, I guess he hadn't slaughtered goats in so long his goat killing knife was to dull and he ended up sawing at this poor things neck while it screamed so loud and so humanlike I had to leave and cover my ears. I went behind the barn and waited it out, my uncle was already there covering his ears also.

(10,597 posts)... as I grew up around several old great uncles who were farmers. They had some stories to tell, and that one sounds like one that they might have told... They had us kids in stitches all the time.

(6,335 posts)the more human they sound the less chance of being slaughtered therefor being able to more likely pass on their genes.

(22,541 posts)Thank you so much!!! I'm gonna send that to my cousin-in-law in Rome. Maybe I'll get a translation in reply. So hilarious!!! If it's printable and she's not too embarrassed to translate it I'll pass it along. But she won't do it if it's tooooo salty. After all it IS Rome.

They look exactly like my father-in-law used to when he spoke. And just as fast, too.

(15,806 posts)Wish I had the tech know-how to intersperse that with some of what I've been watching from our state legislature today! Just now I muted the TV and played the goats while some GOPer flapped his gums, it was perfect!

(5,562 posts)the poor confused thing probably thinks that's how you talk goat. Once time when I was at the SPCA i kept hearing a dog barking up in a tree, then up on a telephone pole. It turned out to be a nutty crow who was mimicking the yapping dogs at the SPCA.

(10,597 posts)... because laughter is the best medicine, especially here on DU! We have GOT to laugh it off folks. Let's kick and rec this, so more DUers will take note and get a good laugh too. Bless their hearts, they are "talking!" I bet we sound pretty funny to them too.

(7,318 posts)My son used to visit his step-mother in a small rural northern CA town. She had goats in her backyard and he said they sometimes sounded like they were talking. I can now see why.

(2,142 posts)Except, I posted not only the one in the OP, but also the others downthread (Jerry Lewis goat and Clucking Chicken goat).
Can't get enough of them.
emmadoggy
(2,142 posts)I simply can't get enough of Jerry Lewis Goat and Clucking Chicken Goat. O. M. G. I have watched them both several times and I just laugh and laugh. This morning I played them again for my husband and we were both in stitches - just gut-busting, tears streaming, can't breathe laughter. Sometimes, things just hit you right and you are gone - this morning was one of those times.
That kind of laughter is good for the soul.
