Republicans blocked Chuck Hagel's nomination for defense secretary (CNN email)

Republicans blocked Chuck Hagel's nomination for defense secretary, with Democrats failing to get the votes to break a filibuster.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said it's the first time a nominee for secretary of defense has been filibustered.

The Democrats mustered 58 votes, falling two short in the procedural vote, amid GOP questions about the former Republican senator's finances, as well as remaining tensions with the White House over last year's terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya.

We might as well switch off the lights, lock the doors, and send everybody home.

especially as they know there are many pro israel democrats, and some NOT so pro Israel libertarians like Ron Paul and Grover Norquist. If the GOP became the Anti Zionist party in addition to everything else, they might as well go home and get real jobs.

obstructionist antics. I suggest we send clown dolls to all these obstructionists with notes asking them to go join the circus because we don't need the circus antics in our government! I would start with Mitch McConnell.

Obama fucking GIVES them a well-respected REPUBLICAN for god's sake,
and these stupid GOP fucks are smacking their gift-horse in the mouth,
that was trying to feed them something palatable.

Hell, Obama ought to nominate WESLEY CLARK. That would be a brilliant
stroke imho. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wesley_Clark
