Regarding this thread

that for some reason won't show up anymore, I just saw this on my Facebook news feed:
Unfortunately, we must report that things did not go well today in the courtroom. Jeremy and Heather have been given about two hours to turn Dutch over for euthanasia. To make things worse, sources say the judge claimed Jeremy did not show enough remorse for the woman who was bitten and sentenced him to 20 days in jail. We have been instructed to take this page down and will do so within a few hours. We want to take this last opportunity to thank everyone for their amazing support though. Please keep Dutch and his family in your thoughts today. :'(

(274 posts)The woman BEAT the dog, and that person needs to be in jail, NOT the owner or the dog.
I'm sorry about Jeremy and Dutch. I wish the outcome would have been better.
The judge is an certified idiot, and should be censured or thrown out of the bench.

(3,179 posts)I have a strong suspicion that this judge is using the law and his power to act upon a deep rooted prejudice of his own. No other explanation seems to make sense.
My heart aches for Jeremy and Dutch.

(8,159 posts)The woman needs to be fined and jailed and the judge needs to be removed from the bench.
My heart goes out to the owners. I cannot imagine. I would take Dutch and disappear.

(1 post)Jeremy is a disabled vet-lock him up for 20 days for NOT showing remorse towards the woman who didn't hit but BEAT his THERAPY dog? Chances are that he won't be allowed his meds that he needs to control his PTSD, and that would include Dutch!
Why is this judge still on the bench???
I wish I was closer because I'd just keep Dutch safe until he could be reunited with Jeremy and Heather! Keeping the family in my prayers tonight

(1 post)First, I don't think Dutch should die but have the opportunity to go to a sanctuary at the very least.
All the facts are not presented here, Dutch was not trained to be a service dog until AFTER the bites occurred.
Yes, Jeremy was in the service, but Dutch was not his 'service dog' as people have been led to believe.
He thought Dutch being trained after the incident would help his case.
Dutch is a 150lb dog that was fighting with a pitbull outside and the woman was fearful that Dutch could kill
the dog, so she tried to get him off the other dog - yes she also used an aluminum pole at one point, she
was in a panic thinking she had to save the pitbull, and shit - 150lb dog is freaking HUGE.
Once she was finally able to tear him away by the collar and get him into the house Dutch bit this woman twice
so hard that it went right to the bone, in both her leg and again on her buttocks. The woman was able to get
herself into a bedroom and shut the door where she then called her husband, he and his friend came home to
help her. When they opened the door to the home, the dogs saw each other and darted towards each other AGAIN!
This caused a $25,000 medical bill for this woman, that's no 'nip' nor is it a laughing matter.
I'm not saying this was all handled well, Dutch was obviously in an agitated state. All I'm saying here is that before you judge anyone, get some more of the facts first.
