Suggestion for a social experiment

I was just reading about another study that shows political affiliation has connections to specific brain functions.

Conservatives tend to process new or stressful information with their amygdala and Liberals tend to view the same information with their ACC or anterior cingulate cortex.

As i was reading i began to wonder what it really would be like to live in a society that was inhabited only by those with "liberal brains". I realize there are smaller intentional communities, of either political persuasion, but i was thinking of larger social structures incorporating larger economic and governmental concerns.

I then began to wonder what the "conservative brain" societies would be like. How would they structure their broader economy and government if left to their own choices and demands.

I have seen reality shows built around the premise of post-apocalypse survival scenerio in which the people are pretty well submerged into the social environment that the producers are trying to depict. I personally think it would be fascinating if that type of submersion could be accomplished with true leaning people of each party affiliation. Separate the groups and allow them, under identical start conditions, to form societies.

I would love to see where each society ends up, while mirrored against one another.

1. People themselves, as a whole, go from very Conservative to very Liberal.

Those in the middle can be quite fuzzy as to whether they actually lean Liberal or Conservative. There would need to be tests to eliminate the middle from your experiment, leaving real conservative and Liberals.

Conservatives tend to be more paranoid, less tolerant, more black/white in their world view. You know, the "If you are not with me 100%, you are against me." Truth and facts can be twisted to fit or even made up on the spot. Like DU's usual suspects are getting to be.

Liberals tend to be much less paranoid, more tolerant of other views, with rich rainbow of colors in their world view. Truth and facts, reality matter and are important.

2. I think we already live in the society

that is driven by the amygdala.

4. I agree with you that it feels like fear/inflexibility rules that day

but there is still some significant push back. I want to see both sides with no resistance. Each side allowed to fully implement their ideal. It would make for a very enlightening reality show at the very least.

3. I was pretty conservative up until the past few years

More of what conservative used to mean, and less what the far right and tea party represent. In fact it was their intractability and obstructionism that pushed me in this direction. I also started working as a caseworker and began to realize our problems are complex and cannot be solved with one liners and calls for cuts here, and cuts there with no idea of what they mean, or how they effect people or the economy. I have moved very far from the right on my view of war. I continue to move, though I'm not sure of the direction anymore on the use of drones and specifically the DOJ memo. My view of death penalty has changed. I still support 2nd Ammendment but think we need to hold gun owners responsible when their guns are used in the commission of a crime with and without their knowledge of course. So I guess it's been a process for me but uncertain what mental processes are involved in this transformation.
