Matthews just now, on his own show, admitted to voting for Idiot Son.

He said he saw him as a "common sense " candidate. He said this as he was speaking (without interrupting!!!!) to the spokeswoman for the Tea Party Patriots.

14. When and why was he a "Kennedy guy"?
Wed Feb 13, 2013, 08:38 AM

He was born in 1945, so he would have been 15 when JFK was elected. Given his flightiness through the 90s to today, I'm inclined to think he identified as a Kennedy Guy just from being impressed by the whole "Kennedy charisma" thing.

Maybe he was a little more disciplined in his days as a staffer and speechwriter, but he's so "Washington insider" that he's free to just indulge his feelings about someone without rooting it in facts and analysis. Thus we get his Clinton obsession, his crush on Bush, and now he's "centrist".

I think I have heavier lint in my pocket.

...impressions and identifications, and doesn't necessarily have any deeper roots in principle. That sort of thing can be a set-up for a "conservative is a liberal that got mugged" thing, or probably more in Matthews case just surfing the "conventional wisdom" of those around him, which is "The Village" of Washington insiders.

he wasn't anti kerry in 2004 but he wasn't that critical of bush either. so not sure who he voted in 2004.

but in 2000 he was REALLY REALLY bad.

Put up with Tweety and his constant interrupting of him. Now tonight Tweety accuses David of interrupting the teabagger. She needed interrupting, spewing her shit talking points that are false.

in his principles that he leans to whatever position he thinks will benefit him the most. His performance last night guaranteed him free flow of tea baggers appearing on his show for the future.

Though, I believe he also came out and said something positive about Gore during one of the debates, then his eyes looked off camera to somebody before he retracted his statements.

1. He is totally in love with the sound of his own voice.
2. He will always support the populist candidate. In that aspect, he is similar to many people, including some at DU. This is why you can see support/interest in Chris Christie here.

The "thrill up his leg" was actually about Obama. Here's him gushing about Bush's codpiece:
http://mediamatters.org/research/2006/04/27/mission-accomplished-a-look-back-at-the-medias/135513
And he's obsessed with JFK. I don't think he cares a whit about policy. It's all about image with him.
