4. My question

Two of them - Grassley and Cornyn offered amendments to the VAWA effectively wanting it to not to apply to women who are illegal immigrants, gay women, and Native American women. Now I can understand - but not condone - the first two... religiously insane conservatives have to hate illegals and homosexuals and could adopt relatively "sane" sounding reasons for that decision - the normal tripe about non-citizens not getting rights and the normal "Biblical" crap about gays, but what reason could they give for denying it to Native Americans?
