Listening to the FRC discuss Hagel, I'm beginning to believe that the repukes

are going to go all out to deep six this nomination. The repukes are pulling out all the stops to insinuate all kinds of crap. Ted Cruz is now suggesting that Hagel has received compensation from "extremist" groups. Levin is now reading Cruz (very politely) the riot act. Cruz is demanding from Hagel information that is not usually asked.

You may want to listen to this. It's pretty damned interesting:

Nelson is now saying that he wants to go on record objecting to Cruz' statements. He's clearly appalled. He accuses Cruz of smearing Hagel He says Cruz has stepped over the line.

They're getting their facts from Glenn Beck, Michele Bachmann and Pam Geller. That makes them the dumbest Senators in that room.

4. They're going for personal destruction. Hagel will in all probability be confirmed, but they want

to cripple him going into the Pentagon. He will also be forever used as an example of never, ever speaking your mind or stepping out of line as a Republican--ESPECIALLY on matters dear to neocons and the Israel lobby. This will be the end of rational Republicans in the Senate, at least on foreign policy.

and I agree with TG above, they want to cripple him. I hope they won't succeed, but I have no idea. As for Cruz, he is a posturing fool that does not deserve the brain he's got (he seems smart, in an Alice in Woderland kind of way). And inhofe is of course an idiot. Saw McCaskill's put down of him and I LOVED it.

Inhoefe speaking now. God he's stupid. More or less accusing Hagel of siding with Iran against Israel.

Sessions up now saying that the vote shouldn't be today and that the nomination is being rushed through committee.
