Using a random tweet from one viewer of Sunday nights Grammy Awards as an ostensible reason to bring it up, Fox invited on guest nutritionist Keren Gilbert to scrutinize the two womens bodies, and to offer her own suggestions as to how the women could lose weight:
CAVUTO: Well, Adele and Kelly Clarkson cleaning up [at the Grammy's]. Now critics are saying they need to slim down and their current weight is nothing to idolize. Is that criticism fair?
GILBERT: We have processed food and were always struggling with and people are saying, looking at Adele and saying, look at what she has accomplished. I could be overweight like her. I dont need to address these issues in my life. And what Im saying is Adele is a beautiful woman and so is Kelly Clarkson."
Not only is the whole conversation remarkably sexist Cavuto and his guest glossed over the fact that Adele just had a baby its also tired. Adele has addressed her critics constant barrage of insults about her body on several occasions, pointing out, I would only lose weight if it affected my health or sex life, which it doesnt, and, Ive never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and Im very proud of that.
Clarksons weight has similarly been a constant topic of criticism, with gossip rags trying to put a number on the pounds that Clarkson has shed. The former American Idol star has discussed her weight loss, in terms of concerns about her personal health, though its actually none of Cavutos, or any fans, business either way.

(2,431 posts)And 4 1/2 minutes of millions of women gritting their teeth, again, while being subjected to FOX programming. That's what I would call unsustainable.

(8,377 posts)Yeah, it was a snowstorm. We get that. Get out your shovels and dig out. What is the point of talking about it, unless there is a serious discussion about climate change -- and I'm pretty sure there was no such conversation on any of those cable outlets.
And to me, it seems like a waste of time to talk about what Obama MIGHT say. We already know what he MIGHT say. There isn't anything newsworthy until AFTER the speech.
This is the problem with 24-hour "news" channels in a world that may only have 30 minutes of real news worth talking about. They could certainly take the NPR approach and go into more depth, but none of them do depth. They want everything to fit into a 15-second capsule, but they they have nothing to do for the other 86,385 seconds of the broadcast day. So how about that Adele, huh? Seems a little chubby, doncha think?

(7,820 posts)Plus, she just had a baby, so the criticizing her weight is even more out of line. She's a refreshing presence in a world of cookie cutter pop stars (who have their place, but shouldn't be the only images.) I think she's lovely.
I will also say I'm a fan of Kelly Clarkson, who has a really strong voice and whose music has a real attitude.

Shit like this makes my head spin.
