To a T. None of this was shocking. We don't live in LA, but we know enough where the manifesto was met with a bunch off...yup, so this is new? How? Just wait for the rest of the country to tell us to ignore it, which has happened.

In a fair & free society you shouldn't receive trouble for speech, no matter how distasteful it is, but LA isn't that society right now. I hope they rethink that message.

Yeah, I'm slightly worried about bullets flying no matter which gun they are coming from.

In fact, this happened right down the street about a year ago...

"A man shot in the face during Friday's Hollywood shootout was in critical condition at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center.

John Atterberry of Hollywood, who works as a music industry executive, was sitting in his silver Mercedes sports car Friday near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street when the gunman shot him in the face. The gunman fired indiscriminately at cars and pedestrians before being fatally shot by Los Angeles police officers.

Witnesses described the chaotic scene in the heart of Hollywood as both terrifying and surreal as the gunman walked down the street and paused at the intersection of Sunset and Vine, randomly shooting at passing motorists. "

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/12/hollywood-shootout-music-industry.html

Also, I would not describe LA as a "boiling pot" as some have.

Us silly citizens need to remember that.

Drones, cops, etc - they operate in a different sphere to protect us from each other and those people in yemen who are, any day, going to be launching a major naval strike on the US and rush ashore (a little like red dawn but updated).

If dorner had been a cop when he shot those people this would probably have not even made the news outside of LA.

The cops are trigger happy, and shooting first while asking questions later. I think the Justice Department needs to open an investigation into the LAPD, pronto. WTF is going on down there?

Are you really saying that Dorner is as innocent as a rabbit? Really? After he has killed three people who never did a thing to him and has threatened to kill more? You don't think that he has any moral culpability?

And in the context of the rest of your post adding a picture that says "Go Dorner Go?

Wow. I don't even know what to say to that.

No matter what you think of the LAPD, this isn't the way to create change within the department. And by my count, in this the entire police have killed 0 people and Dorner has killed 3. I've never been good at math, but 3 is larger than 0 and given my druthers, I'd rather be shot and live than to be shot and killed.
