Was Whitey Bulger trapped by his hatred of President Obama?

America's most wanted fugitive Whitey Bulger's racism and outward hatred towards President Obama could have led to his capture after 16 years on the run, it was revealed today.
It was initially believed after his arrest in June 2011 that it was all because of his moll Catherine Greig's joint care of a stray cat with her neighbor - who was the one to eventually shop Whitey to the FBI.

It was while Whitey and Greig were living under the guise of Mr and Mrs Charlie Gasko in Santa Monica, California, that Greig grew close to Icelandic model Anna Bjornsdottir, bonding over the care of the stray cat.

Whitey would often join them outside their apartment building but after one interaction with Anne, when she 'unabashedly' expressed admiration for President Obama, they never spoke again and her views towards her friend's husband changed.

'He practically exploded...disgusted that she could admire a black man as president. Nothing was the same after,' according to the Boston Herald. After this incident..... 'Whitey gave Anna the cold shoulder, would not even respond when she said hello to him.

'Then in June 2011 while watching CNN, she recognized the fugitive as her rabid racist neighbor. He was captured days later.'

He spent a Winter in an FBI/CIA bedroom community South of DC. Now, why would he do that, unless he had friends there to protect him?

12. I was in Santa Monica that night.

I took my teen daughter and some of her friends to a My Chemical Romance (yeah I like 'em too) show in Hollywood that weekend and we stayed at the Holiday Inn right across from the pier.

We arrived late at night after driving 500 miles from Sedona and were welcomed with what looked like every cop in SoCal screaming down Colorado and fishtailing around the corner to head north on Ocean. Dozens more were coming up from the south on Ocean too. I was about 1/2 block from the intersection just trying to turn left in to the hotel. I kid you not there were 50 or more cop cars all headed in the same direction. We must have sat on the shoulder of the road for five minutes while they all passed.

The funny part is I'm from Boston originally too. I didn't find out what the fuss was until the next day.

I was just happy they and the trouble seemed to be heading AWAY from me and the girls.

I spent the next evening with Gerard and company.....I even lasted a few minutes in the mosh! Not bad for an old chick.

One things for sure. LA is a hell of a lot more exciting than Sedona. Sedona is pretty but its boooooor-ring.

This is what we were jamming to in the car as the cops passed...totally surreal!
