We're being told that Dorner is bringing the disinfectant of sunlight to the abuses and corruption of the LAPD. He has single-handedly turned the system on its ear striking panic into the hearts of the nameless, faceless power structure that for too long has not been held to account (Where the hell is the mayor, if I may ask?). He has gone Rambo, showing us how the power of the law suppresses us.
The police are corrupt. The police are brutal. The police are outside the law. The police are abusive. The police are out of control.
The police are nothing more than a state sanctioned criminal gang used by the Powers That Be to crush dissent and serve as the fist within their iron gauntlet of oppression.

But any Teabagger who says he needs a gun to defend himself from criminals is absurd because only cops need guns; and any Teabagger who says the 2nd Amendment is to draw a line against a rogue domestic government is just some paranoid fantacist.
BTW -- Dorner is pro-gun control -- or maybe he just doesn't like victims who have even odds.

It seems an odd set of priorities.

Nice post.

(19,877 posts)Are you defending Dorner or Teabaggers? Or neither? Or both?

(19,497 posts)But I'm surprised that those who support Dorner can also pretend to be anti-2nd Amendment. Apparently they don't mind *him* using guns to resist Da Man.

(19,877 posts)probably done more damage to the LAPD without violence and instead taking his manifesto to the media, news circuits, (even Hollywood for $$$) than he can with violence.

(18,672 posts)It makes me wonder what kind of personality seeks out that kind of power - to be a police officer. The fact that he purports to be free of blame, yet was able to gun down people in cold blood is telling. The fact that the LAPD has been shooting first and asking questions later is also very telling. The whole system is completely fucked up, yet we sit on our asses as spectators.

(19,497 posts)unless they happen to be the young people wholly unresponsible for his grievances who he shot down in cold-blooded murder in order to decry police brutality -- kinda like the kind where an ex-cop imagines himself above the law and guns down young people wholly unresponsible for his greivances.

Meet the "new" boss, SAME as the old boss.
Anyone who says it isn't, and has not ALWAYS been, and very likely will never be anything but "the lesser of two bads" is a liar. Give me the one I know and have at least theoretical influence over to make things better, over the one I don't know, and whose "friends" and associates I don't know either, and who all are pretending that the things that we don't know about them or what they propose for "our" future don't matter.
