TORRANCE, Calif. (KTLA) LAPD Chief Charlie Beck announced Saturday his department will provide a new truck to two women injured by officers in pursuit of fugitive ex-cop Christopher Jordan Dorner.
...
Officers in the area had been assigned to keep watch over a high-ranking LAPD officers home.
The women have subsequently retained an attorney, Glen T. Jonas. Jonas reports that Hernandez was shot twice in the back, and Carranza received stitches on her finger.
The police have a job to do, Jonas said. But that job does not include street justice. It does not include execution.
Obviously, everyone is uptight, and youve got to be sensitive to that. But youve got to be professional, and match your description, and give fair warning before you start shooting at people.
The LA Times reports that a total of seven different officers fired on the womens truck in Torrance.

(1,712 posts)A lame stunt like this does not make up for a bunch of trigger-happy asshate who fire on one of hundreds? thousands? of vehicles in an area that look similar to a suspect's.

(13,409 posts)I bet they would have even chipped in for funeral costs had they killed those two ladies. I bet those ladies are thanking their lucky stars that if they had to be shot by LEOs, they were members of the LAPD.

(51,666 posts)charges will suffice. PLUS whatever else a federal prosecutor can drum up. Attempted murder? I dunno.
They not only need to lose their jobs - they need to lose their freedom. They were prepared to deny someone his without benefit of due process, after all.

Her Ford Focus was hit as well a bullet shattered the windshield and another flattened a front tire.

LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith says the department's Chief Charlie Beck met with the women in their Torrance home Saturday to apologize and tell them he had arranged for someone to donate a new pickup truck.
The truck will be donated early this week, Smith said.

I hope the women's attorney doesn't let them sign any releases. There's not a jury in the US that wouldn't award them at least 7 figure settlement. LAPD is going to be very generous trying to keep them out of court.

I know that Dorner is a dangerous man, but I'm starting to think the LAPD is absolutely desperate to silence him. There are no good guys in this situation.
