Right-wing Christian conservative says enough is enough - we need to teach our boys to respect women

Dan Calabrese is right-wing, holy-roller conservative. He works for Herman Cain. He thinks fiscal austerity will create economic growth and loves him some military spending. But now and again, he surprises:

The job of a parent is not just to lay down the dos and don'ts. That's the easy part. It's also to teach girls how to deal with that pressure, how to deal with the self-esteem issues they will face when everybody's doing what they've been taught they shouldn't do, and they're facing a choice between loneliness and moral surrender.

The one thing that would work best, of course, would be for boys to stop treating girls this way. Everything in the culture encourages them to go after whatever they want as soon as they reach the age where their physical bodies will facilitate it. Oh sure, your parents, your teachers and your pastor might tell you not to, but the celebrated figures in our culture are the ones who go after what they want and get it.
