States have, over the past four decades, made no short use of that latter right. Only one state, Oregon, has not layered additional restrictions on top of the Roe decision. At the other end of the spectrum is Oklahoma: With 22 abortion restrictions, it has more than any other state. The chart below, courtesy of Remapping the Debate, has the full list. You can also gohere for an interactive version of the graphic, which will let you look at what type of restrictions each state has set.

(111,276 posts)probably because our part time lege doesn't sit long enough to consider doing any house cleaning. Those aren't the only stupid, obsolete and unenforceable laws on the books here.
NM is majority Catholic and very pro choice.

(or maybe the printer just ran out of 'n's at the end of the chart?)
Seriously, this chart represents a disaster. They'll be coming after us next.

(9,902 posts)not have an ultra sound requirement, though I know from personal experience that Family Planning does use them. They don't hurt, but I can certainly see how it could affect a rape victim (nor do I think states should be governing personal medical choices) - Unless the green is actually for limitations on funds? Hard to tell. If it's for public funds, yes Maine does not allow Mainecare (Medicaid) to pay for an abortion unless it's incest, rape, life of the mother, or deemed medically necessary by a doctor (I don't agree with that either) Not sure what they mean by physician and hospital requirements. Maine requires a licensed physician to perform an abortion. I'm good with that - trying to find the laws on hospital requirements, and I'm going to guess that it has something to do with gestation.

(4,517 posts)CA and WA both only have laws that only prohibit abortion if the fetus is viable, which I don't really have a problem with, and there are likely exemptions carved out for life of the mother or some other thing. If they're on the bottom of the chart, they're probably pro-choice.
