Karl Rove has created a group designed to stop the Tea Partys influence over the Republican Party.
The Conservative Victory Project, an offshoot of the former Bush advisers American Crossroads, is designed to prevent Tea Party-endorsed candidates from winning Senate primaries. Several Tea Party style candidates have suffered embarrassing electoral defeats, including Todd Akin in Missouri, Sharron Angle in Nevada, and Christine ODonnell in Connecticut.
Rove ally and President of American Crossroads Steven J. Law tells the New York Times, there is a broad concern about having blown a significant number of races because the wrong candidates were selected. The first target of the group appears to be Rep. Steve King (R-IA), a far right firebrand who reportedly is interested in the seat of Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), who is retiring.
Rove does not have a good track record in this arena. The American Crossroads Super PAC spent millions from coast to coast, opposing President Obama and Democratic Senatorial candidates in 2012. President Obama was re-elected and Democrats increased their strength in the House and Senate.

The myth of Rove's monumental intellectual prowess is alive and well, even after he crapped a Romney all over Fox News. The fact that rich corporations will throw away money on a baby-faced idiot turd-blossom goombah shows that those businessmen don't have the brains to be trusted to run the government into the ground.

(725 posts)and I've been waiting for some clear signs on who is holding the power behind the Tea Party faction of that battle.
I'm placing my bet on the Koch brothers.

(182,839 posts)and yes I am calling these billionaires gullible.
The TeaBaggers never made any sense to me. Yes I get the outrage but it was clearly orchestrated (then we found out HOW orchestrated it was) and turn openly racist. But that isn't the part I couldn't understand - the GOP has forever been one solid force a consistent movement (okay enough with potty jokes) with its own 11th Amendment "Though shall not attack other Republicans"
