You said it yourself: the wars, DHS, and all that have pumped trillions into the pockets of the rich man. More gun restrictions would take away money from the rich man, in less gun sales.

If following the money doesn't work for you, follow the fear. It is in the interest of our rulers that we live in fear. We are more easily herded if it is "for our own good." Again, the wars and DHS and the Terror Threat have multiplied our fear greatly, and easy access to firearms also leads to increased fear, gives increased excuses for more repression. A gunslinger in every school, anyone?

It is perhaps the greatest refutation of the "armed insurrection" argument in favor of the 2nd Amendment, that our government -- against whom we would be rebelling -- sees no need to restrict our access to firearms to meet this "threat."
