1,340,000 gun deaths since 1968 certainly qualifies it. The Genocide Amendment has worked quite well since it's being carried out at the hands of it's own populace.
Let the flames begin!

(16,038 posts)what do you call cars? LOL
Seriously, do you know what "genocide" means?
SWTORFanatic
(385 posts)less people getting killed. You can survive without a gun. I have for 32 years never once had the need to use one.
On the other hand, things would be very different (and for the worse) without cars.

Oh, and I actually have a fire extinguisher in my kitchen..have kept one in there for over 20 years...never have had the need to use it...I think I'll keep one around, just in case..

(385 posts)gun and he's a better shot and faster than you?
Why aren't you wearing body armor right now? Never know when a BG with a gun who is a better shot and faster than you might show up!

(16,038 posts)If there is, seems reasonable to have some idea how one would respond if confronted with it. If there isn't, why does it matter what I have or don't have? Further, using your logic, if one has a fire extinguisher, they should wear a fire suit all the time...just more nonsense it is..
The actual meme is something to the effect, 'you stand more of a chance of a bad guy killing you with your own gun than defending yourself'..and such silliness..

(385 posts)guns.
BUT the number of people who kill an attacker in a justified homicide is less than 300 PER YEAR. The chance that it happens to you is so unlikely to be nearly as statistically insignificant as winning the lottery. Honestly, there are other things you are probably not doing with your life that would protect you accidental / intentional injury or death much more than having a gun would.
pipoman
(16,038 posts)and how many times people defend themselves without firing a shot. The chances of being the victim of violent crime far exceeds the chance of a house fire, tornado, hurricane, and other things you would find perfectly reasonable to consider an emergency response for...how is victimization any different?

(385 posts)AR15s. Most people who have a problem with guns have a problem with those types AND/OR handguns. And also oversized (no one needs) rifle rounds like .50 caliber rifles.
Very few have a problem with your standard 12 gauge / 20 gauge / 30-.06.

I drive an electric powered Ford Escort I converted to run on electricity several years ago. 80,000 electric miles. Not many people know how to convert a car to run on electricity. So that's my ride.
Apparently, 1,340,000 deaths since 1968 as the result of delusional Amendment doesn't seem to bother anyone.
The Amendment has outlasted it's usefulness and has probably caused more deaths than it's protected.
You know. Like sending 4000 Americans to die in Iraq in revenge for 3000 that died in 9/11.
I'm not advocating taking people's guns. If you'll want to kill each other over it, be my guest. I just hope I'm not caught in the cross fire or become a victim like my best friend did at the hand's of his father's gun which was supposed to be used for protection. So add him as one of the 1,340,000 Second Amendment victims.
So yea, you all can stick your head in the sand that an Amendment is killing it's own people.
As far as comparing car fatalities to gun fatalities. Now, that's delusional. Get real. They don't even serve the same purpose.

(11,804 posts)That might not have been clear. I mean this post is nothing like a calm well-reasoned argument.

(39,665 posts)Genocide usually has intent, deliberation, and -- to be frank -- focus.
Three things I do not associate with the current wholesale slaughter, numbers notwithstanding.

(25,029 posts)Amazingly, the populations has increased a staggering amount over such time despite "genocide" being a fundamental part of the fabric.
Imagine how HUGH our population would be without hundreds of years of "genocide"!
I was also wondering what population was targeted, I assumed you meant all Americans (which means it isn't working to well).
Who is doing the targeting and what is their endgame?
Based on the rate of death, when will we anticipate being wiped out?

(978 posts)Glad I caused a stir. Sometimes you have to be extreme to get attention.
When it comes to people loosing their lives over an antiquated amendment then so be it. Lets face it. Our founding fathers wrote that Amendment and people are dying exercising their right over.
I would say over 1 million deaths and probably millions of injuries qualifies as a US government policy that's killing it's own people.
But I can see that people here are blinded by their own patriotism over their precious amendments.
And if someone wants to kick me out of here please do. I've tried signing out for good and can't find a way out.
And no, I'm not a Republican. "Rightsideout" is a play on words. I voted for Clinton twice, voted for Gore and Kerry and Obama twice. I'm an environmentalist and liberal that lives in a solar powered house and drives an electric car. I currently have one of my electric cars on display at the DC auto show.
I hate guns with a passion since my best friend was killed by his father's gun that was supposed to be used for protection. All because his dad insisted on practicing his Second Amendment rights.
So kick my ass outta here!!
