There is something to be said for wisdom and experience but age takes a toll on everyone. Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden are excellent public servants and are considered front-runners for the Democratic Presidential nomination. But, unless you are older, there is a big difference between 55 years old and 65 years old. As we get older, age can act as an almost exponential process.
However, Hillary would be 69 years of age, the same as Reagan when he took office. And Joe Biden would be 73 years old, the oldest President ever elected. Did we think Reagan was too old?
Republicans, on the other hand, are going for youth. They are grooming losers like Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan to lead their Party. Any sane person would choose either Hillary or Biden over any of the young radicals of the Republican Party but where is the bench for the Democratic Party? Who is there in 2020? Is it time for some of the younger Democrats to step up and take over leadership?

(11,464 posts)that Senator Warren and Hillary45 are just about the same age, don't you?
And let me ask you, as Sen. Warren is a singular person, an amazing job she has in front of her, tell me, who do you want to replace her in her job?
Remember, no one was good for that job but her.
Why would you want her to so quickly leave that position?
To run for President takes now years.
And one is away from office for a few weeks a month
How can she help fix the Wall Street or Banking mess if she is not in the committee?
Answer: she couldn't.
A person cannot in 2013-2016 years, do all this.
And anyone else would NOT do the great job we expect Sen. Warren to do, once Congress is in actual session.
and please, Why don't we stop the ageism?
imho

(54,032 posts)I read people citing "the Castro brothers" all the time around here at DU. I think with some of these name droppers they're being treated like tokens.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz is in her 40s, not that I think she may run for president, but. Gillibrand is another name that comes to mind.
You also have Chris Murphy, who is just 30, Joe Kennedy III, who is barely older, and others.

(4,840 posts)I would love to see her in D.C. some day. She's a firebrand. She doesn't take any crap as I'm sure she's seen enough of it from the Republicans in Ohio.
Also, already in D.C.,
Alan Grayson, 54.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz, 46.
And Kyrsten Sinema is only 36.
Also outside D.C.,
Cory Booker is only 43, though I think he has some developing to do.
