(36,649 posts)Americans use guns to murder one another at a rate far higher than any civilized nation deserves, and the fucking RW gun worshiping fascists think the only problem with it is there aren't enough guns around.
"Bitter" is the only proper, sane response to such lunacy.

(9,137 posts)which is what "sane" means. Feeling bitter (etc. negative feelings) don't improve physical and mental health, make one feel better. That's why they are called "negative" feelings. This is not what you want to hear right now, and there's not much point trying to deny or suppress such feelings. Just reminding that actually no, they are not sane feelings in the actual meaning of the word.

...then yeah, fuck 'em.
postscript
I have to edit my comments.
I've seen the video and the speaker (sorry, I forgot his name) specifically asked if anyone in the room had any reason why people needed big magazines. He then said the lack of response meant no one could think of any. That's when someone said "shall not be infringed."
He was not heckled. Someone simply answered his question.

and get rid of some assault weapons..
But I still need to get a 12 gauge one of these days....
Am I a gun fuck, or just need gun you fuck? Or to talk to a fuck gun fuck?

(23,959 posts)In no way were they "answering" the bereaved father's rhetorical question.
Responding "because second amendment" to "Why do you need massacre weapons?" is like saying "because they're for sale" to "Why do you need cigarettes?" Stupid, stupid, stupid, and also non sequitor.

(13,225 posts)that Mr. Heslin was asking for this response. That the fact that he asked this rhetorical question trumps the rules of decorum set forth by the CT legislature for public hearings and apparently trumps the norms of basic human decency.
Gun nuts had the opportunity to provide testimony at that hearing. Only COWARDS disrupt the commentary of a grieving father anonymously from the back of the room. Only assholes defend this indefensible behavior, and they walk amongst us.

(16,974 posts)I am sure all people know and obey Roberts rules. However when Mr. Heslin turned to the audience and asked twice and paused waiting for an answer, a few people responded to the question. I would not have answered that way, but they did.
And I guess I am a low life GUN FUCK as some people here seem to think that just owning a firearm is almost as bad is being a meat eater. It is also one of the few groups on here that are regularly hit with name calling and is fine with all.

(5,179 posts)I don't care if he asked, I don't care if he was waiting for an answer. He's standing there with a picture of his dead baby. His 6-YEAR-OLD CHILD WAS BLOWN AWAY by an assclown armed to the teeth with LEGALLY PURCHASED FIREARMS. How about you respect a man whose going through an unimaginable, unconscionable loss and just not say ANYTHING? That's what a reasonable person would have done, gunowner or not.
Jesus Christ. How important are your damn guns that you can't empathize with a grieving father for two minutes?

(23,761 posts)I agree 100% I am beginning to feel that all gun owners are fucking assholes. Why do you have a gun? To injure or kill some one, simple as that! That is not life giving, that is not progressive or liberal. We are better than that as a people!

(13,225 posts)means of entering your opinions into the public record. And you know what? I've been there done that in my own state of PA. It is a difficult endeavor when it involves an issue that affects someone you dearly love.
Only a COWARD screams remarks anonymously from the back of a room. Furthermore, what did that parent ask? Mr . Heslin did not challenge the 2nd amendment; he questioned why anyone NEEDS to own that type of weapon. You know, the type that can fire so many bullets in such a short period of time that those babies were butchered and had NO chance of survival. LEO arrived at the scene within three minutes and the killer had the opportunity to fire HUNDREDS of rounds of ammunition into the bodies of small children before he could be stopped.
The vast majority of DUers have no problem with gun owners. My husband and family members own guns, but they are SANE gun owners who support universal background checks and don't think that our founding fathers envisioned handing sick fucks unlimited fire power to murder innocent children when they wrote he 2nd amendment.
But don't let me interrupt your martyrdom.

(22,000 posts)I was on the treadmill this morning and my wife was on a treadmill next to me at the gym and I had CNN on (no sound) and was watching it. I'm an expat living in South Korea and disgusting at what has been going on.
It's almost worth passing along this story:
A friend who I worked with for a short time here in Korea recently returned to her home. I see her as a person who is by all means capable of defending herself as she was in the Army reserves. On Facebook the other day she said she misses Korea and being able to walk down the street without fear of getting shot (Korea does not allow people to have guns unless you are in the military or police). For someone I know to say that it makes me understand how people feel over there.

(2,117 posts)they're too dumb to even say the words 'of the' between 'because' and '2nd amendment'
you're defending a couple of drunk assholes who make your entire cause look like assholes?
noboby gives a crap about your gun, and you just graduated into total assholism.
you deserve to be called names, because your stubborn obtuseness is offensive.

(51,578 posts)As others further up the thread note, they were just blurting out "Second Amendment!" and "Shall not infringe!" when he made the statement that no one in that room could explain WHY they NEEDED an assault style weapon and then asked rhetorically, WHY they NEEDED these things. He got no answer (there is legitimate need), instead, he got heckled with nonsequiturs.
That was the point Lawrence O'Donnell was making. I don't see any videos of that O'Donnell segment yet, but here's a video of what he was talking about from CBSNews.com:

So - which well-regulated Militia did YOU join today?
And might as well ask - Why do YOU need an AR? (not want...need)
