The 11 Best Places To Go On A Redneck Vacation
1. The Mystery Hole (Anstead, WV)
Science has never been able to explain* the gravity defying conundrum that is West Virginia's Mystery Hole.
(*Well, if you want to get technical it's what scientists call a "hoax," but also, SHUT UP, SCIENTISTS.)
Hit the road! There's plenty to see and do across these here great states. CMTs favorite family is back and hitting Americas highways for the road trip of a lifetime! The ALL-NEW season of My Big Redneck Vacation begins tomorrow at 9/8c, only on CMT.

(20,582 posts)I've always been fascinated by Stonehenge, my Dad's family lived not far from it. This farmer's car version is amazing to me, so much work ... I really do love it. I'm gonna go there some day!

(15,139 posts)individuals pay money to visit them ought to be a national embarrassment. Instead this shit is celebrated on a tv channel for yahoos. Just awful.

(4,340 posts)It's a pretty sad place. Poor gators.

(18,318 posts)Here, you walk among them at your own risk.
Big bastards, too. And a lot of them. Great bird-watching.

(43,190 posts)My dad who lives up there has counted even more when he's visited.
Cool place. They've got wild buffalo and wild horses roaming about.
An even crazier place for gator watching is Shark Valley in the Everglades. There, you will walk by gators resting literally a foot or two from the walkway, with no barrier between you and them. And yet there's never been a documented attack by gators on tourists there.
Here's what I mean:

(43,190 posts)Never been there, but I do believe they have an old fighter jet mounted alongside the highway by the entrance to the museum.

(42,766 posts)Silver Springs, Citrus Tower, Gatorland and maybe Six Gun Territory were about the only
attractions in Central Florida at that time. Interstates 4 & 75 hadn't been built yet.

It may take longer, but we see some amazing places, eat fantastic food and meet fascinating people.
We call our trips "no chains" as we make a point of never going into a chain for anything (well, except fuel, but that can't be helped).

(146,218 posts)Mainly I am afraid that they would throw us out because we just wouldn't be able to contain ourselves.
Using the website I linked to, though, has taken us to many strange and miraculous places, lol.

(17,191 posts)they might as well set aside at least five days to get there. "BarfWorld," "The World's Biggest Pile of Dog Poo," "Alligator-O-Rama," it doesn't matter -- if I'm driving, I'm probably gonna stop there.
Back when I spent all my time in the back seat, my parents knew to try to distract me from all the "Stuckey's" and "You All Stop at Woodall" and "See Seven States from Rock City" signs. And God help them if I ever saw one of Pedro's billboards ("South of the Border" .

(146,218 posts)days of our extended road trips with us. I generally don't tell them where we will stop next because I love their reactions when we get there.
I also use roadfood.com and got their google maps app. Some of the best regional food in any area can be found through that site.
My parents would hit the highway and see how far they could get in a day. I think that's why I do exactly the opposite.
Enjoy!!
