I don't really recall even one Republican mentioning the debt when Bush was spending like a drunk sailor?
In fact, I recall that in 2001 they all thought a balanced budget was bad. They, including Alan Greenspan, thought we needed more debt. So they proceeded to do away with the actual and the projected surpluses and, instead of a balanced budget by 2009, we had a debt of almost $11 trillion dollars. On top of that, they left the economy in ruins, which required even more massive government spending.
But while they were cutting taxes and doubling the defense budget and fighting two wars that were unpaid for, not one of them even made a whisper about deficits or the huge debt.
But suddenly, when a Democratic President was elected, the debt and deficits became the most important issues on earth.
How come this little fact of history is not more reported??
